Those children with the chocolate milk and the huge difference between how they believed the guilty party should have been punished clicked some things into place in my brain because I think you just confirmed something I have suspected for a very long time with my husband from back when we were dating. At one point early on he was sort of smirking, and threw out a 'hypothetical' - "What would you do if I ever cheated?" Well, I don't cheat, and have ZERO interest in a cheater, and I immediately replied that I would break up with him and we would be over. He got upset, too upset for a supposedly hypothetical question, and he told me that if I cheated on him that he wouldn't be happy about it, but he wouldn't want to break up with me and we would work it out. Over a decade later and a lot of bad times to the point we will be divorcing, and I know for certain that is absolutely not how he thinks. If I had ever cheated, he would have gone ballistic, but he would have been more than okay with cheating himself. He thinks it is okay for him to lie to me, but I had better be honest with him. I am over all that and the inequality of this relationship. I want to be around people where I can be honest with them, and they are honest back, and if I can't find people like that, then I am perfectly fine being by myself because it definitely beats the disrespect and stress of being with someone who lies to me.
