BatRiffs - The Monster of Dumphreys Hall
Very funny episode. Every time the words "Spock's brain" are spoken in the episode, it's hilarious.
fans always panned this episode but i always loved it, it was pure science fiction and a far out story, spocks brain running an entire underground complex was amazing , and he had the perfect computer brain for that Lol , good stuff
1:00 But are they Devo?
This was peak.
There's a lot more where this came from.
@@MJE-riffs Giant Spock was also up there, but that was the animated series.
By far the worst Episode - except for maybe the Apple. Hell would be an infinite Star Trekathon with only this episode.
I would put 'And the Children shall Lead over this one. This was intended as a comical script, but Freiberger said, 'Star Trek is not a comedy!' (according to David Gerrold, he nixed a tribbles sequel for the same reason.)
Brain And Brain! WHAT IS BRAIN!!! LOL!!!
The clammy hand of Fred Freiberger descends on Star Trek...
I misread that as "Fred Fredburger" from The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy. With Spock observing "Its life, Jim...but not as we know it!"
And later with Space 1999
ToS is, unsurprisingly, full of things to riff.
He wasn't designed by Boeing was he. THATS FUNNY LMFAO. GOOD ONE.
*Sees the horizontally flipped footage* Oh...Its gonna be one of those kinds of serials, huh?
Star Wars? I dunno. I don't see that amounting to very much. Certainly no more than two, three movies tops!
Thanks a Lot regards from México.
4:29 You had SEVERAL ways to make people to tell the truth, Scarab, and after the method was used only once, you forgot it completely and moved on to yet another method. Just like every other serial villain. Despite all the riffs and silly scenes, I still consider this one of the better serials. The fight scenes are pretty good, and they actually gave the female lead something legitimate to do in every episode. Indeed, her ploy in this episode is actually quite ingenious for someone who had to make it up on the fly - her fake name almost sounds acceptable. It always amused me how the Scarab always has the perfect minion for whichever task he sets for them - the "Doctor" looks legitimate enough, but then Gardner knows he's a fake from the getgo, because, you know, IITS. Of course, this isn't really a Captain America adaptation since the character is nothing like him, but setting that aside, the serial moves well and I like that it didn't have to waste a full episode for a recap like too many serials did. The moment when the Scarab figures out that Gardner is Not-Really-Captain America is pretty weak, but he has to figure it out sooner or later. Of course, Gardner does nothing IN costume that he does OUT of costume so it kinda seems pointless in many episodes for Gardner to waste time switching identities. The last confrontation of Fake Cap with the Scarab does not make any sense but Fake Cap needs to have that final confrontation. Stuntmen are pretty obvious in that fight, though. [Dale Van Sickel is the stuntman for Captain America throughout.] So, I guess it's as a good time as any to do this old MSTie favorite.... Crow T. Robot: "Dale Van Sickel! He never made a bad film!" I very much enjoyed the riffing, Matthew, but I would still love a formal riffing someday on Rifftrax That should be a lot of fun, and there's enough action so there should not be too much repetition.
15 chapters made of about 3 chapters of story dragged out until it feels like 30 chapters
You know, we never find out if Hillman makes it out alive. Or even if the real doctor ever showed up. 🤔
@@kali3665 Hillman died on the way back to his home planet.

Am I surprised the makers of this tried to pass off Big Ben as some random clock in America? Not half as surprised as I was that they tried to pass this off as Captain America!
Producer: Okay, so for this one, we want you to narrate it like there is a small child asleep in the room with you, and you don't want to wake them up!
The Goodies reference got me!
please more of this rare audio
THIS C.A. IS A MF JOKE. THE STORY, CHARACTERS, R JUST WEAK ...
There should have been a Dragos Variety Hour Show. It would have been a hit!
3:42 Such a weird little scene. Scarab: "Matson, congrats - you were brought back from the dead." Matson: "Gee, thanks, Boss!" Yeah, the guy was killed and just got resurrected, and his reaction is so very straightforward. I rather think I'd be shocked on being told someone freaking murdered me!
5:45 So, Dr Maldor - Is there a reason you found a need to gift wrap and tie the package that you yourself broke open? 😂😂
5:35 Dumbest. Line. Reading. Ever! Hillman is played by John Hamilton - Perry White on the 50s Superman TV series! Interestingly, this is the most active the Scarab has been throughout the entire serial, taking a physical role in torturing Hillman, then working to personally destroy the evidence afterwards. Especially considering Atwill's health at the time. But he has always been the saving grace here.
Ed Graham, at 9:00, is Kenne Duncan - Lt. Matt Carson from Sinister Urge and Dr. Acula from Night of the Ghouls. Poor guy has a long history of bad movies.
I thought the Scarab was busy trying to get those lenses from Captain Marvel.
The Scarab should strike for better pay - and a better script
Another great riff. Love that in this Silver Age Superman story, Superman sings, dances, advertises things, and generally gets goofy. Rife with material.
What's with the soap opera organ music?
James Doohan.. oh, how are the mighty fallen
OMG Sid Haig? THE Sid Haig?
Sid Haig always gave it 100%. RIP, you legend.
"Thank God it's over!" - The entire cast, probably.
I'm waiting for you to riff that braille version too!
This was fun! Thank you.
Robert Denby...I understood that reference.
Somehow this is animated better than the average Clutch Cargo episode.
There are times during the car chase where people in both cars are shooting at the other car, at the same time the video shows us that it's clearly impossible for either car to see the other one.
Would we remember Lionel Atwill so fondly were it not for his wild party?
Capt America was dangerously close to being beaten up by an elderly waiter
If movie serials have taught me anything, its that being a super hero is mostly getting the crap beat out of you by schlubs in boxy suits.
Did this show ever explain why Jason dresses like a total dweeb?
4:00 haha 6:27 9:45 "Sorry..SPACE-bitch"
1:42 "Save my life again, and I'll tell you who it is." So, telling people about corruption is like a sandwich stamp card. 😄 2:50 "I also had breakfast at the Harvester, and it's very filling." you know the harvester is known for its cuisine. 😏 4:20 "You've just been too damn healthy, that's why." Channeling some Ponty Python there.
Riding a giant wall of water up to the space ship sounds awesome!
I like these riffs of yours.
I'm the man now, Dawg!
When does Peepo show up?
The sassy barmaid is the real hero of the story.
