피아노 공장장(The Piano Music Factory Manager)
Добавлен 28 июн 2012
I learned piano for a little over 3 years from the age of 10 to 13 (1997-2000) at a small piano academy near my house when I was young.
I am practicing piano again in October 2023, which I had forgotten. I am applying a good way to learn piano on my own without going to an academy or receiving lessons from a visiting teacher. And I learn piano through generous and kind comments on my practice on my RUclips channel.
I often listen to performance videos of great foreign performers on RUclips in my spare time. And I practice the scores of the works I have seen and heard by downloading the IMSLP app.
I practice most of the music score on sight-reading just only once from the beginning to the end at a slow tempo for balancing my life and piano practice and exposing me to a lot of music. And most of my channel practice videos are recorded during that process.
Thank you!🤗🎹🎼🎵☕️🦁

Today I practiced the entire first, second, and third movements of Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No.4 on the piano by sight-reading. I tried to practice without stopping in between, just like when I saw Chopin's entire Piano Concerto No.1 a while ago. However, the temperature where my piano is is 17 degrees Celsius, so my hands were cold and sore during the 1st movement, so I rested a little after finishing the 1st movement. Then, I installed an electric heater behind the piano. There are 5 piano concertos by Rachmaninoff. I practiced all of them by sight-reading, except for Piano Concerto No.1. When it comes to practicing Rachmaninoff piano concertos by sight-reading, I think Concerto No.3 is the most challenging, followed by Concerto No.4. This is my main purpose for practicing the piano. @@forever-with-the-piano Thank you for your positive and generous comments. I also support your piano journey. And I hope you are always healthy and at peace. I learned the piano from the 3rd grade of elementary school until after the first midterm exam after entering middle school. At first, when I lived in Busan, I learned the piano from a neighborhood piano academy (in today's terms, an after-school classroom for elementary school students) near my house from the 3rd to the 4th grade. At that time, I learned everything from Bayer and Czerny 100. When I was in the 4th grade of elementary school, I moved to a small city in the countryside and started learning the piano again at a piano academy near my house. When I think back on that time, I feel sorry for the teacher at that time, but I never felt like she was teaching me the piano properly. When I went to the academy, I couldn't even get to 20 Hanon for almost 2 years, and I got to 30 to 40 Czerny, but rather than learning from the teacher at that time, she just told me to play it five times, play it ten times, and take the test. That was the end of it. I once asked my teacher how to play this, and the teacher's demonstration looked terrible even to my young eyes. And I couldn't find any rational reason to make up for that terrible performance. When I was in the 6th grade, I thought there was nothing I could learn from the teacher at the second academy, and at that time, the teacher said that she could no longer teach me. When I was in the 6th grade, I went to a piano academy near my house to consult about better ones, and the teacher there saw me playing the piano and said that I was someone who could play Mozart, Beethoven, and Bach, so why was I being neglected like this? At that time, I learned about 3-4 movements of Mozart's sonatas, 2-3 movements of Beethoven's sonatas, and 3-4 of Bach's inventions at that academy. I wanted to learn how to play the piano for church, but I was a bit introverted, so I couldn't approach the people at church and ask them to teach me. At the end of the 6th grade of elementary school, I learned a little bit of chord accompaniment from a teacher who had a piano in a small attic in Busan to learn how to play the accompaniment for church. At that time, I learned theories and methods that I could apply to practicing the piano again starting in October of 2023. However, soon after, I entered middle school and quit the piano academy, so I could not learn more about the piano. Since then, I have practiced the piano for less than 3 hours until October of 2023. However, when I started practicing the piano again on my own last year, I realized that I have some talent for the piano. More precisely, I realized that I have a talent for music. Because the following two things apply to me in common. First, I saw that pianist Son Yeol-eum mentioned 'good ears' as a condition for a pianist in her book 'Letters from Hanover'. My ears are so sensitive that it makes my life uncomfortable, so I don't have a refrigerator at home. Even inside the house, I can hear what's going on outside if I concentrate. Also, when I open the music score and watch the performance, I can generally tell whether the pianist is playing according to the score or not, even though I have not received professional training. Second, in one of the honest retrospective comments in pianist Baek Hye-seon's autobiography, I saw a part where she said, 'I won third place in the Tchaikovsky Music Competition. However, in fact, I premiered Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No.3 conducted by Pletnev and in my 40s and until I received a good evaluation from the critics, I actually didn't have the ability to perform Rach's 3rd on stage. That's why I played Chopin's 2nd when Lugansky played Rach's 3rd at the Tchaikovsky competition. However, it was only in my 40s that I was able to perform Rah 3 on stage. I'm not a pianist who pretends to be able to perform Rach's 3rd on stage, I can now say that I am a real pianist who can perform Rach No. 3 on stage.' While it would take a few months for most people to sight-read Rach's 3rd, I finished sight-reading it in about 5 hours on a hard and heavy digital keyboard in the middle of summer, over 30 degrees Celsius, without intentionally omitting a single note. In addition, I know that my maternal relatives are very talented in the arts. They are older than me. Because their families are in good financial condition, they can play the violin, cello, etc. very well. One of my cousins is talented in art and studied abroad in Germany and even received a doctorate. If I had been educated well like my maternal relatives and had good financial condition, I think at least I would have been able to become a pianist who lives a hard life. And additionally, my father in particular said a lot of very negative things to me when I practiced the piano when I was young, like, "Why are you so bad?" I think that it's important to have parents and the kind of family environment people grow up in when it comes to education. My father's words mostly weakened my motivation. Nevertheless, the last thing I want to say is that I think I can approach the piano with such a free mind because I didn't receive standardized, relatively high-quality piano education when I was young. More than 80 percent of the viewers of my piano videos are foreigners, so they mainly use English. And there are other reasons why I don't use Korean very much, but it's hard to explain in detail. I used a little awkward sentences so that they can be translated well into English, so please understand. Thank you for reading the long text! 😅😊🎼🎹🎵🎶

00:01 Prelude No.1 17:31 Prelude No.2
Today, I played all the hymns on the theme of Christmas in the Korean Protestant Hymnal. I played not just one verse of each hymn, but all the verses, and at the same time, I read the lyrics of the hymns and thought about their meaning. When I read the lyrics, Jesus was born in a manger in a stable where lowly livestock lived, from the body of the virgin Mary. The star in the sky was the first to announce the birth of Jesus, and the shepherds who were tending their sheep saw the star and knew the birth of Jesus, and the wise men from the East anointed Jesus. Although Jesus was born in a lowly place, he left behind the meaning of faith, hope, love, and salvation to mankind. I think Christmas is definitely a holiday that brings joy to most people, but I hope everyone thinks about the meaning of Christmas at least once!😅🎹🎼🎵🎶🎄✨️
Merry Christmas 😊
@MooreMusic12 I hope you have a merry Christmas too!😊
I found this sheet music while searching for Christmas carol sheet music on a sheet music site today and it looked interesting so I downloaded it and practiced it. I think this song is an arrangement of Jingle Bells, a carol we are familiar with, by an arranger named Menedes, who was inspired by Liszt's musical form. I think this arrangement is definitely a mixture of Jingle Bells and Liszt's Grande Etudes S.141 No.4 'La Campanella'. Thank you!😅🎹🎼🎵🎶🎄✨️

Very well practiced, dear Gwanghae! When rhythmizing, you have to make sure that the rhythm remains concise. Your rhythm sometimes becomes triplet. 😊 (quarter - eighth - quarter - eighth) Better is - dotted quarter - eighth .... 😊 If you feel like it, you can also play the arpeggios in the Russian practice style, like you played the scales. Then you would also practice the counter movement. 😊 Have fun practicing! 😊 🎶
@@juliane_steinwachs-zeil Dear Teacher Juliane! I sincerely appreciate your generous comments and kind teachings on my 12 Major and 12 Minor Arpeggio practices. I practiced Hanon No.41 once last year, and this is my second practice on the technique after almost a year. I first have to familiarized myself with the score, I will follow your teachings. First, I have to attention to the concise of the rhythm. Second, I have to apply the ratio of the length of the notes in the arpeggio progression you mentioned, not 3:1 or 1:3, but 7:1 or 1:7. Third, I have to apply the Russian practice style. I will keep these parts in mind and apply them in my next practice. Have a nice weekend!😅🤗🎹🎼🎵🎶
@@피아노공장장ThePianoFact Dear Gwanghae, I didn't explain something clearly enough. When rhythmizing, the length ratios should be like a dotted rhythm. So 3:1. (Even better would be 5:1.) Your rhythm sometimes becomes more careless and it becomes 2:1 😅 Best wishes and have fun practicing! 🤗

1st movement(00:01) 2nd movement(2:21:44) Intermission and coffee time(2:56:10) 3rd movement(3:00:15) I practiced Chopin's Piano Concerto No.1 from beginning to end on sight-reading today. After practicing the first and second movements, I drank a can of coffee for a while. Then I practiced the third movement right away. This piano sight-reading practice took a little over 4 hours. There is something I want to make clear on this occasion. I do not edit the recordings of my piano sight-reading practice sessions. Up until now, I have recorded all of them at once, except for one Mozart sonata (which I edited by combining the video before and after the interruption of a text message I received while recording on my smartphone), and uploaded them without editing them. However, I do edit the recording process by deleting the process of pressing the recording button on my smartphone before starting to practice and sitting down at the piano. This was a challenge I gave myself and I did it. With this, I practiced all two of Chopin's piano concertos from beginning to end just once. I have heard Lugansky's performance of this work many times, both during dinner and outside. I think Lugansky's performance is one of the best interpretations of Chopin's playing. I generally think that Lugansky is good at expressing the desolation and melancholy of the vast land of Russia. I can feel melancholy the moment I listen to Lugansky's piano music. I can even become more melancholy when I try to soothe my melancholy by listening to Lugansky's music. I think this is because Lugansky is good at expressing the desolation of Russia. However, if I am not consumed by this melancholy, I can hear the rich beauty and sublimity of the music in that state. I commonly hear this sound in Lugansky's playing. I think this characteristic of Lugansky's playing goes well with Chopin's work. The same goes for Chopin's Concerto No.1. His emotions, neither excessive nor insufficient, create a space of sound where the composer, performer, and listener can be together. And they can recall Chopin's sublimity and beautiful spirit in the space of interpretation created by Lugansky. Below is a link to Lugansky's performance of this work. ruclips.net/video/ijsTalrpT7A/видео.htmlsi=y-oD--pe610V9Yky Thank you!😅🤗🎼🎹🎵🎶☕️

Dear Gwanghae, I am very impressed by your great perseverance and your thorough practice of the scales! 👏👏👏 Every major key has a parallel minor key that has the same notes in the scale. The parallel minor key of C major is A minor. A minor uses the same notes as C major. If we compare: C major: C D E F G A B C D E F G A B C A minor: A B C D E F G A B C D E F G A This minor scale is called "pure minor" or "Aeolian scale" There is also the "harmonic minor". This scale uses the major seventh. In A minor, this is then G sharp. I don't know the Hanon Etude, but it uses the harmonic minor scale. Your scales are all the harmonic minor scales with the major seventh. I would also practice the "pure minor" scales. So the scale that I described using the example of A minor above. 😊 Best wishes and have fun practicing! 🤩
@@juliane_steinwachs-zeil Dear great teacher Juliane! I sincerely appreciate your careful and generous comments and feedback on my minor scales, and your teachings. I will also practice the 'pure' minor scales that you mentioned in addition to the method I practiced. My specific ideas and implementations for my practice were as follows. First, Hanon No.39 introduces the 12 major scales, the 12 scales in the way I practiced them, and the method of the scales you additionally mentioned. However, the order is C major, F major, ..., G flat major, B major, ..., G major and the corresponding A minor, D minor, ..., E flat minor, G sharp minor, ..., E minor and the method I practiced and the method you mentioned are presented respectively. Second, I referred to Hanon No.39, but did not practice in that order. I practiced in the order of the minor scales corresponding to the order of C major, B major, B flat major, ..., and D flat major scales. Third, I looked at the score for the first minor scale practice. However, I deliberately did not look at the score for the second minor scale practice. This was to recall the principle of the minor scale that I discovered and learned and to make that principle clearer. Fourth, the rules of the minor scale that I figured out are as follows. Move 3 semitones to the left from the base note of the major scale corresponding to the minor scale, and then proceed with the minor scale using that note as the base note. And then, before reaching the note one octave to the right from the base note, add a sharp to the 11th note. Also, when naming a minor scale, if it starts with a white key, name it by adding only the minor. However, when a minor scale starts with a black key, the name of the minor scale can be either sharp or flat minor. The criteria for this are determined by whether the major scale corresponding to the minor scale uses sharps or flats in the score. Fifth, I will also try the scale that you generously taught me the next time I practice the piano. It may be a little easier than the way I practiced. Because I don't have to consider adding sharps to the 11th note from the base note of the minor scale. I hope I understood your generous teaching well.😅 Thank you very much. Warm greetings!😊🤗🎹🎼🎵🎶
@@피아노공장장ThePianoFact Wonderful, dear Gwanghae! However, in the harmonic minor scale, the 7th note of the scale is raised. In pure minor, the 7th note is the minor seventh in the scale and in harmonic minor, the 7th note is the major seventh. That is the only difference. It is not the 11th note, but the 7th note. It is better to identify the notes of the scales as interval tones to the root note. Major: Prime / major second / major third / fourth / fifth / major sixth / major seventh / octave Pure minor: Prime / major second / minor third / fourth / fifth / minor sixth / minor seventh / octave. Harmonic minor: like pure minor, only the seventh is the major seventh It is much clearer if the notes are seen as interval tones to the root note, because as intervals they have meaning. For example, the third in a triad determines whether it is a major or a minor triad. Have fun practicing! 🤗 🎶
@@juliane_steinwachs-zeil Dear Teacher Juliane! First of all, I would like to thank you for your generous and kind teaching. But I have been thinking about these things. First, I think I have almost understood the principle of progression of the twelve major scales and the two corresponding minor scales. Second, the common way to understand the twelve major scales and twelve minor scales in music is to view the eight scales as one octave. This common way is: From the first note to the second note, a whole tone, From the second note to the third note, a whole tone, From the third note to the fourth note, a semitone, From the fourth note to the fifth note, a whole tone, From the fifth note to the sixth note, a whole tone, From the sixth note to the seventh note, a whole tone, From the seventh note to the eighth note, a semitone. Third, however, I viewed the first to eighth notes as 13 semitones, regardless of the principles of universal music. I think that this can be expressed in different language, such as when referring to an object called a piano, saying 'piano' in English or '피아노' in Korean, but the object it refers to can be the same. Of course, my thoughts may be unnecessary and may not be of much help in understanding existing universal music. Thank you for listening to my story. Warm greetings!😅🎹🎵🎶🎶
@@피아노공장장ThePianoFact Yes, dear Gwanghae, that's right! There are different ways to understand the scales! You can think in terms of tone steps (whole step, half step) or in intervals related to the root note. It's good if you find out how you want to orient yourself. 😊 👋
@@juliane_steinwachs-zeil Dear Teacher Juliane! I sincerely appreciate you taking your precious time to teach me and understand through your comments. In fact, I am listening to the recordings of Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier Books 1 and 2 from time to time, as much as I can balance my work during my daily life. Understanding the 24 tonality is a preliminary work and will help me practice Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier Books. Anyway, I hope you have a happy and relaxing weekend. Thank you!🤗

00:01 Warming-up 5:30 Recall the 12 minor scales I memorized yesterday(2024. 12. 10.) 23:05 12 minor scale application practice (not easy) 1:45:48 Recall the 12 minor scales again This is mainly for my practicing the 12 minor scales using Hanon No.39. This will not be good to listen to and appreciate. Thank you!😅🎹🎼🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵
This is mainly for my practice and may not be good to look at and appreciate. I memorized the 12 major scales through Hanon No.39 on July 22 this year. And I thought I should memorize the remaining 12 minor scales as well, but I kept putting it off and started and finished it today. First(00:01), I practiced the 12 minor scales of Hanon No.39 in the order of A minor, G minor sharp, G minor, F sharp minor, F minor, E minor, E flat minor, D minor, C sharp minor, C minor, B minor, B flat minor three or four times. Second(47:10), I recalled the 12 major scales I had already memorized and practiced the 12 minor scales. Third(1:12:30), I slowly practiced the 12 minor scales in the order of A minor, G sharp minor, G minor, F sharp minor, F minor, E minor, E flat minor, D minor, C sharp minor, C minor, B minor, B flat minor. I spent about an hour and a half on this task. My memorization is not yet clear, but if I continue to practice this, I will be able to expand my understanding of the piano. Thank you!😅
Very beautiful performance 👏

Then I came home and downloaded the sheet music for this works and practiced sight-reading it on the piano. This is mainly for my piano practice, so it may not be good for listening and appreciating. 00:38 Mozart Piano Sonata No.1 39:58 Mozart Piano Sonata No.2 1:21:45 Mozart Piano Sonata No.3 1:56:55 A conversation between a man who likes to catch fish in a river in 'Gotham' Village and me about my friend 'General's leg wound I installed an electronic piano in front of my friend 'General's house around 13:00 on December 4, 2024 and practiced Mozart's piano sonata. This is my third-reading of Mozart's piano sonata. It was my first time practicing the piano outdoors, and it was not easy to concentrate compared to practicing the piano indoors due to the wind and the sounds of everyday life. However, if I do this several times, I will quickly get used to it. In the case of Mozart's piano sonata No.3, I practiced until the end. However, there was something personal about the conversation while practicing the sonata, so I did not upload the rest of it. The video was taken under strong sunlight and the camera angle enhanced the sunlight, so my hair looks a little bit thin. However, my hair is still healthy. I want to make this clear. Also, I know that some of the great Russian pianists did not have much hair, but it never caused any problems for their piano performance. I also focus on practicing the piano like them, so that if I lose hair in the future, my hair will not be a problem for me. Thank you!😊🎹🎼🎵🎶🦁
