The DM in the first scenario was a bit of an ass. It’s just a game, and if everyone else is having fun, you’re job is to make sure they have fun. It’s a make believe game and shouldn’t be taken seriously, get over yourself. With that being said, the storming out and ending a 6 year relationship is extreme and was very stupid. Both should have grown up and done better.

I played D&D once when I was fifteen or so. We were playing with a younger crowd and I wanted to take it seriously, being my first time. Everyone else was more experienced but assured me it would be fun. 5 minutes later... The youngest player, about 13, did a search for a dildo sword, and through a series of astounding rolls, the DM allowed him to have a completely OP dildo sword while I was getting my shit rocked trying to understand the game. Good fun for everyone else, but I never played D&D again.

I mean, while I'm watching campaign 2 and 3 I've only seen Keyleth in the animated version, and she's my least favourite. Simply because she seems both contrary and opinionated, jumps to conclusions with nothing to back herself up and is just... Generally the most abrasive of the bunch. Character seems to suck the fun out of several scenes, and not even in a, grounding voice of reason kind of way.

Gaining him the invisiblity ability after that kill. So that makes Kim unlucky number 8. And now I'm realy confused. If our Protaginous's sister's medical costs are being paid by him. Wouldn't that mean his sister is in college for her medical degree? And if the female hunter went to high school with said sister, but dropped out to become a hunter. Reguardless of her dropping out of school wouldn't that make her college age too? It's a bit confusing there. They don't state he's trying to save money to send her to medical school, but rather he needs to earn money to pay for it along with the medical bills that currently already exist. Then they throw in the parent/guardian teacher confrence that implies high school or lower education status for her. Which really muddies the waters there. Season 1 makes her sound older right up to the parent/guardian meeting towards the end of season1. Grant it I'm blind and can't tell how old they depict her. (Which doesn't mean much with anime, since they'll bounce all over the place when it comes to that.) So I can't really judge that by sound alone, and can only go by what they say. Which season1 says nothing about her being in high school still. Just her medical school needing to be paid as though she doesn't have any or small scollerships.

If you watch the closing credits, they hint strongly that there is going to be a coming "conflict" or head-to-head of some sort between his old self and his current self. Either his new self finds his old self trapped and tries to save it, or maybe a straight-up fight between them to see whether empathy or heartlessness wins out. I'm reasonably confident in saying this, given the closing credits of S1 hinted at the fight with Igris that capped that season. And I was even more surprised at the pacing of the red gate. I thought that the red gate would be the entirety of Season 2, but boy was I wrong!

So glad I bumped into this...didnt know there was a redit for DnD horrors - having issues in my first campaign, also the DM's first campaign, male player being problematic, self centered and hes been keeping a core personality facette from us, 6m 'in campaign ' turns out he has a soap opera level backstorey issue and his character trusts none of us. Wtaf - I lost my rag and walked out. Totally new to DnD, a real late starter at 55yr, daughter is DM and Mr ADHD Problem is 45 and experienced player should know better. He's wilful and stacks the deck in his Rogues favour constantly- wind up merchant. He absolutely can't see why his character shouldn't piss off my Dragonborn Bronze Barbarian....not sure I can be bothered to explain...

Ive also watched them since the beginning and I know these people (as well as you can with an exclusively online viewership role, outside of live meets) and the end of this campaign seems like the most (scripted?) I know its not scripted but I do believe they have a specific goal and they will meet it no matter what. It does throw me a bit cause the way Laura acts when she is playing dnd versus the way she acts when she knows whats gonna happen is such a huge difference

I predict: Imogen will absorb Perdothos and there may be a fight, but otherwise she will become a godlike being who stays on the moon and they give the ruidians a choice of staying or going. Possibly even keeping a bridge of some-kind open. Also I believe she will tell the gods to leave and go to another place she doesn’t care where but they cant stay here. This creates the best of both worlds where all the gods are gone but they don’t have to die. Leaving the luxon as the deity to worship. The main problem I see is it would be totally unbelievable that factions and rebellions wouldnt rise yo the defense of their Gods. Characters like Pike and Caduceus even if they retain their powers would be totally fucked over and idk how the cast would feel about that. Another issue I see is daggerheart has Gods (see liam in character creation) so maybe they are flexible and only exist if worshipped. In any shape outside of the narrative. I feel like this is the last campaign we see from Cr that goes over 100 episodes and a huge change in the future of their live plays.

about to watch season 3 of this and honestly season 2 is such a fever dream. even watching this amazing recap it felt like someone describing said fever dream just with how the story is is all over the place

There are several D20 DM’s and players that, if they had no connection to our beloved Brennan, would be top viewed posts on RPGhorrorstories or the subject of a crit crab video. Beardsley in like the first 5 intrepid heroes seasons is absolutely unbearable, constantly losing focus, never really engaging with rp unless Brennan centered them as the main character. Siobhan is straight up rude to other players with shocking consistency. Sometimes it’s good rp, sometimes it’s her just saying something bitchy for no reason or not reading the room. Aabria as a DM would genuinely be a crit crab regular if she was not affiliated with Brennan. She constantly tells players what their characters are feeling and how they react, and when she can’t do that she does whatever she can to take control of the characters away from the players. There are just a few things that are absolutely unacceptable at 99% of tables that frequently happen on D20 that fans brush off because Brennan is the producer. So yeah, no surprise that once she’s outside of the Brennan sphere of toxic positivity her irritating DM habits actually get critiqued.

I cannot wait to be done with this campaign the completionist in me needs to know how it ends, but i cant lie, it has not been as fun of a journey as C1 or C2.

Trying to remember watching C1 of CR way back when the only thing I remember about Tiberius is he would hold each session hostage for an hour or more to do his "list of things" and during the later episodes he was on everybody else starting to get angry and tell him no but it would still always happen. Also the creepy horndog comments.

I am not sure if Tiberius/Orion was deliberately cheating. I think he was just not getting the game. Cheating on the rolls would just be wrong though. Personally, I would definitely not enjoy being a DM with this player. I like my current players and enjoy helping them grow as players through my current campaign.

I can't wait until this season goes to DVD/Vlu-ray. This series is to epic to NOT have it on hard copy media. Give us more coverage of this please! 😮❤

Just a small correction: The campaing was played in Pathfinder before the Stream. One of the reasons is believed Orion was cheating spell quantities available per slot for Tybs and the way spells worked, was that the system was kinda new to all of them.

Hi! For me, it's been something of a letdown, except possibly for the worldbuilding - though I genuinely feel like that too suffered from the strange pacing. What I've struggled with is twofold, other than just random little things one always has with longform content. Firstly, the group. I really think it's hard to find a group with less reasons to be together than this one, and that even includes the romance. I think it's a bit better when they have glue like Dorian or, surprisingly for me, even more so Bertrand initially which felt like a perfect character to helm or advise this band. I think it's a case where each one is a decent character if they were part of another group, but they wanted to explore things that kind of clash with this group's cohesion sense long-term, with the backdrop of a plot that demands from them not to be the people the crew is trying to roleplay. It's just messy in a way, and it's hard to bond with the team for me. Obviously subjective in the last part. Secondly, the format. I definitely think video over stream is worse for dialogue and interaction, because they can script a few more elements to keep it rolling - not in everything is scripted sense, but it is just something that will occur when you aren't livestreaming, and a lot of gems were found in those completely bantering moments. This isn't really a huge deal for me though, I mean they still have fun interactions every so often and Matt always tells a good story in the moment. However, the long-form aspect has suffered a lot in my opinion with the constant breaks. This is hard to change when the crew obviously wishes to have more of them than in the past, but you definitely see a fair bit more "we were on break forgetfulness" anybody would have in a campaign or any production. Since these are pretty foundational things, for me it really has weakened the entire campaign somewhat. I want to see what happens, definitely. I'm a bit worried about C4, but that's because I don't know if I'll like Daggerheart - I like many others share the belief they will migrate at least to an extent.

I'm a fan, great content for years now. Yeah.. C3 seems longer but campaign 2 was 141 episodes and seemed shorter to me. lol "Time is a weird soup". It's amazing how Matt and his world creating, influenced by a few other DM's, along with the CR players and crew tided all the camps and 3 shots together to create this final conflict. OR.. IS IT? There are the Luxon, Primordials and other ancient powers that can retake from the lost gods, if they're lost? Ludinus might not be in the wrong but his actions and choices made him into that monster he hunted and was trying to kill. An elf of his age and intelligence could've put all that hate effort into a more communal way to achieve his goal. Is Ludinus really dead? I doubt that. The group now has to make hard decisions with hard consequences. IMOGEN..! What about Braius? Will he follow his "Lord of Lies" or be there for the group? Who knows what is in Matt's head, only he does and we get to see it played out, so cool, so exciting.
