Here we describe a complete system for controlling several LEGO trains and associated hardware via ESP-32 based controllers. Under our system all the ESP-32 controllers communicate via BLE with an iPad running TechBasic. The system can run automated but manual override is available via a control panel on the iPad.

The SketchPro is a digitizing tablet from the mid 80s while the 7220C is a flatbed A3-size plotter from the the late 70s. Both devices are serial, so we use a modern laptop running BBC Basic to read values from the tablet and draw lines on the plotter. This setup was created by linking an HP-9915B to two HP 59306A Relay Actuators. Each 59306A has 6 relays that can switch 28 Vdc or 115 Vac at 0.5 amps. Thanks for all the effort you put into this video. I have been diving into the HPIB interface so I can communicate with all the HP test and measurement gear I have using legacy gear like the HP 86B. I have the very same HP 2225A Thinkjet, works great!

That brilliant. I just entered your program into my HP85B and my two HP 59306A's is clicking away :-) Only the HP 9915 - industrial HP85 - has the LEDs on the front panel - but on my HP 85 CRT screen, small "LEDs" are being displayed all to the right in the screen. Fantastic! :-) Going to buy 12 chains of Christmas lights on the way home from work..
