I have this channel as a hobby. So perfection is not what I'm after, that's for in the studio. I listened to this song, memorized the chords, accents and then I play it in one take. No editing. This was the second take. But this Fodera...amazing.

I came across this song on YT when I was looking for the work of the great James Genus and was blown away. Took me a while to get used to the 5/8 vs 6/8. Fodera through the Kemper Player. Fresh Dunlop strings, I had fresh Elixirs on it bt that didn't work on this bass.

To get my technique back to a higher level I took a piece I transcribed, played and uploaded a few years back. But at 75% of the original tempo. Not perfect but that is what practice is for. I like contemporary popsongs, can’t help it🤷🏽‍♂️ Here I play the great Sadowsky NYC though Kemper with a crunchy SVT profile. Added some verb and chorus.

I sometimes get the question about the difference in pickup spacing. Both pups 70ies is more the 'Miller' sound as you can hear. Then there's also the Maple vs Rosewood debate, no answer to that. I recorded this pretty quick (training my chops, not there yet) with the Kemper player, a Dan Dean profile from an Avalon U5. No plugins in Logic.

My 'new' 1966 Jazz. Not much time because of a tour I'm in, so a quick iPhone clip because I got a lot of requests about the sound. The bass is strung with Dogal flatwounds, played through The Caveman BP1. I bought it strung with rounds but the flats work fantastic on this bass. And it's a beauty :-)
