Sharing old school BMX stories, one guest at a time.
My name is Kevin Wilson. I have been on a BMX bike since I was 6 years old. Growing up, jumped my first trashcan when I was in 1st grade. I began racing in 1983.
Over the years I have collected, bought, and sold well over 200 BMX bikes. However, now I share my best stories, as well as my guests best old school BMX stories here on the BMXPERTS podcast.
If you would like to join me on the channel or you have questions, I can be reached via email at bmxpertspodcast@yahoo.com.

@@lacycoosbmxyou should come on the show!
I don’t remember thruster at all and I was riding in the super hay day of 80s bmx I was sponsored very young in 85. I remember hutch being the first kind of street bike not really down hill or track SM bike . I remember they had the first (that I saw , not saying they were the actual first) breaks that you could spin your bars and your break lines didn’t get tangled because they were two piece at the neck . So more street stuff
I had Powerlight frame but the CW bars were the BEST.
You can avoid PayPal fees by using a PayPal QR code to make payment (Google it). The fees for that are only 2.3%. Use a 2% cashback credit card to make the purchase and tell the seller you will cover the fees. Costs you just .3% total fees, which for $4500 would have been all of $13.50. And you're protected. And if you get a Paypal credit card, you get 3% cashback. You could just pay the normal fees and forget the QR code payment. I do this all the time. Meeting someone for cash is not only dangerous, if the bike turns out to be stolen you lose your money. Using a credit card you are protected.

I hope you didn’t buy that from Billie Wright…
@@woodystorey I don’t remember his name. Dare I ask why you say that?
@ Because he’s one of the collector types that’s in the Pennsylvania area and has lots of great stuff but is nothing but a money grubbin’ piece of shit. Many MANY people don’t like Billie, he gives the whole BMX thing a very bad name…the collector types really turn me off, the prices for things they charge for things is sonething I would NEVER pay…most are straight up posers that never raced that I don’t want to have anything to do with…

Skyway,as it came to redding ca,was indeed in the motorcycle aftermarket producing baffles for motorcycle pipes before it ever produced a composite wheel...I grew up less than a mile from the factory as a kid and used to raid their dumpsters for off color stuffs when they started producing them.used to find cases of suntour hubs that we would try and rivet into those wheels,to no avail...tuff2 hubs...that building is now owned by the company I work for today,an insectary producing non pesticidal delivery system of predator bugs and mites a very big and booming industry.on the ac units in front of the building is the only remaining evidence of the previous factory where so many youths dreams were made...they shrink wrapped the outside of them with photos of riders...been trying to get my boss to try and let me heat em off, part and piece of history.....I'm trying..
Vinyl BMX pads are still the coolest ever.
Hi guys Happy Christmas it's 235 a.m. the day after boxing Day London UK I just read the title and the vinyl pads and reminded me of the pads that had instead of velcro there we're old pads that were mixed up with velcro pads with studs I remember those haha they probably served me well back in the early 80s. I have one child so I'd give testament to the stud pads and I'm 55 so 😂😂😂 cheers guys merry Christmas. They definitely weren't British Steel.

What a humble man. I miss my Patterson everyday . I was moving and a kid was walking up the street . He looked at my Patterson and said man I wish I could afford a bike. So I gave him mine. Skyway mags, CW bars, it was loaded . It went to a good home.
How bout robinson 80-83 handlebars and laid back seatpost???
@@bigfoot7513 I’m guessing about 50 different laid back posts of all different brands. Don’t remember seeing Robinson bars.

Cool Bike 👍 !!! Good Price !!! Great Forks, even though I personally don't like them ... Forks alone are worth $800.00 to $1000.00 ... There is a set on eBay right now at $690.00 with 10 hours left on the auction... Good Score 👏 🤙!!!

This is not your store box bikes or retro bikes these are old-school bikes that hold tons of value
And I also thought it was 86 but I was out at JMC at 82-83 maybe
Very cool I was around back in those days and I didn't even remember it was Dennis Wilson for some strange reason I was thinking John begin or Adam. But my memory so faulty anymore
