Advice from most to least important: 1. Never accelerate straight up and down, because these big powerful bikes will shred the center of the tire in quick order. Rather, try to accelerate while being a bit on the side; that will greatly extend tire life. 2. Get a one piece suit. Or get two suits. Leathers for the track, and an Aerostich for the street. The Aerostich you can get into or out of in 7 seconds. You kinda need a single piece as that means business. 3. Don't speed around cars, and especially avoid passing them. Not to say don't speed and don't pass, but don't be stupid about it. 4. Most mods are a complete waste of money. And aftermarket exhaust systems are junk compared to stock. Still, some mods are required; they are case guards, radiator guards, crash guards near the tank, and front and rear axle sliders. 5. Rearsets are expensive but worth it, because they also function as frame sliders. 6. You don't need an aftermarket windshield but if you insist...just vinyl wrap it. 7. The cleanliness of your drive train and rear wheel is a reflection of the cleanliness of your soul. Too lazy to clean it? Just buy a manual chain oiler. The chain will now outlast your bike. Probably. 8. Keith Code's "A twist of the wrist" is your bible. 9. See that rear mudguard? That monstrosity? Keep it on and especially don't be cutting wires to put on a fender eliminator kit. 10. 1-9 is just there to save you money so you can do trackdays.

I just got my dream bike; it's also a Yamaha but it's not the R1. It's the 22 XSR900 in blue. I don't know if this was done on purpose, but it looks exactly like a 1990's sportbike that's been crashed and rebuilt without fairings (because the rider couldn't afford to replace them). Curiously, my XSR900 makes more power than most of those 1990's super bikes while being considerably lighter, and yet insurance rates the XSR900 series bikes risk as "very low".

First of all, that exhaust is CRAZY!! High key jealous (At least until i get mine done lol) Yeah I always go to the dealership for maintenance and big installs. So if anything happens, it's on them. Nothing against street mechanics, i just don't have the patience for BS. I much rather pay a little more to play a little longer. Mic sounds right. And it's ok to go a few miles over (like a couple hundred) when the bike is due for service, just not a WHOLE bunch like thousands. Views are absolutely BEAUTIFUL for sure. Getting good and tossing the bike around (counter steering) is always fun. And next mod gotta be frame, spool, fork sliders...it is a must (protect that bike) THEN get rid of the ugly fender 😂 And a Zero Gravity Double Bubble/Corsa, or Puig R/Z-Racing windscreen is an absolute game changer with it comes to aerodynamics in full tuck. I have all my mods and don't even have my bike yet 🤦🏾‍♂
