This page is a video hub for U.S. Army Garrison Ansbach that features coverage of the people, organization and events that comprise this community, This coverage may include training, ceremonies, sports, official functions, off-post recreation and quality-of-life developments. USAG Ansbach is the Direct Reporting Garrison and Headquarters of the Franconia Military Community, which includes the garrison communities of Ansbach/Illesheim, Bamberg, and Schweinfurt.

My stepdad was stationed in Illesheim and we lived in Stork Barracks from 1980-1982...this apartment looks exactly the same as the ones in Illesheim, just modernized.

Wir sind froh dass die Amerikaner in Ansbach sind, schade nur dass es kein deutsch amerikanisches Freundschaftsfest mehr gibt. Als deutsche Handwerksfirma in 3 km Entfernung von Katterbach wäre es auch förderlich für ein Wirgefühl wenn die Handwerker in der Kaserne aus dem Umland angaschiert würden.

Funny how you separate glass by color and the collection company dumps it all in a black rolloff container (1:03) Why separate at all????
they just opened one color to let it fall into it I think so.. the separation of the colors is important for making new glasses. if you want to get a white bottle, its not possible to get it, if there is a brown or green bottle into it too.. but if you want to make a brown bottle, its ok to have for example a blue or white bottle in it too, it will still get brown..
the bug seems to be converting materials in recyling facilities... seems like very little waste is being put back to usable plastic .. metals.. glass.. paper...etc.. in short the reports are that most recyclables are ocean/ river dumped..landfilled.. incinerated
glass metal and paper, thats properly sorted has a really high recycling rate, because its relatively easy to do so. If you dont count stuff mixed in it that shouldnt be there, 95-99% (at lest in Germany) of material enters recycling and gets recycled. That does not take losses into consideration (for example too short paper fibers, that get rejected in the process). Plastic on the other hand has a lower rate of recycling, the numbers differ, but around 60% of everything collected gets actually recycled. Thats because some types of plastic are either not recycleable or too expensive/hard to recycle. But you have to seperate the plastic packaging first and let it run through the recyling sorting machines before it either gets recycled or rejected and burned. Everything you put into the refuse bin should actually be non recyleable or stuff thats rejected at a recycling facility. That stuff gets thermally recycled (burned) and used as power for heating and/or electricity. So it actually makes sense to recycle in Europe. Especially stuff like metal (cans ect.) or glass can nearly be turned into new stuff 1:1 with minimal losses. Europe and epecially Germany or Austria is not America, we do actually recycle stuff instead of burying it in a big landfill.
That numbers only account to waste thats properly sorted. Everything you put into the black „Restmüll“ (refuse) container wont get sorted and if its recycleable its forever lost most of the time. The waste in the restmüll container will get burned without further sorting. Only after the waste to power plant some fractions of metal will get pulled out of the ashes. Everything else can only be used as building material for roads ect.

As with most DOD-produced videos, this one is far too long, too preachy, and fraught with unnecessary information.
So sad.... I was stationed at Schweinfurt as a young soldier in 1976 with 2/64th Armor mortar platoon and even played soccer for a local team VFR O7 Schweinfurt. It was a wonderful town and I made many friends. I will never forget it! Ricardo Johnson Danke Schon!!!!
