I have a 12.5 kW Cummings generator which the radiator faces down onto the pavement. I had truck tire blowout and the shrapnel whipped around and took out the aluminum radiator. Cummings wants between $800 to $1300 for the crap AL radiator, which is worse than highway robbery. I will try to repair it by soldering it like you did.

Battery specific gravity is an important metric in determining the state of charge and health of a battery. It is defined as the ratio of the density of the battery electrolyte, relative to water with which it would combine if mixed evenly. The specific gravity of a battery should be between 1.265 and 1.299 for lead-acid batteries, which indicates that the battery is fully charged and in good condition. Understanding battery specific gravity is crucial for maintaining the longevity and performance of your batteries. Factors such as temperature, battery age, and battery type can all impact specific gravity readings. Additionally, testing battery specific gravity and interpreting test results can help you troubleshoot issues and take appropriate safety measures. An interpretative chart can be a useful tool in understanding specific gravity readings and determining the state of your battery.

Once you've determined that the battery is clean and the electrolyte battery acid level is that the correct specific gravity of 1.35 using a battery spectrometer or electrolyte testing device such as a rubber bulb dial indicator similar to Coolant antifreeze tester. Then place the battery on the lowest amperage setting ideally 1-2 amp trickle charge setting and leave charging for three days straight periodically checking the electrolyte level. Generally speaking, even though you will see bubbles with this low amperage setting, they will not cause significant electrolyte level loss but rather wants the 72 hours is up. You will notice the levels have decreased and need to be filled accordingly. I have performed above procedure with great success when reconditioning batteries.. unfortunately what I find with RUclips is often times RUclipsr get either lucky or there was nothing wrong with the battery to begin with? it makes for a great entertaining show but if it were that easy, none of us would have to buy car batteries again it's plain and simple. Clean the battery properly as many as a dozen times with a garden hose or pressure from a pressure. Washer is the best way I found to clean the plates. It's not until the water in which you dump out is as clear as the water in which you dumped in when the battery has been properly cleaned. I've found agitating shaking and turning the battery upside down to greatly increase the odds of a battery being restored. Remember these lead and lead sulphate plates are two dissimilar metals in an electrolyte solution, which is by definition a true battery if any of the eights within any given cell are touching one another this creates an unintentional ground or a one metal electrolyte solution, which will not create ample amounts of electrical current needed to start a car. The more surface area that is cleaned and able to allow the movement of the electrolyte solution, causing the electrons to go back-and-forth from the anode to the cathode will greatly increase the odds of success. It's OK to use regular top WATER during the cleaning process once the battery is completely cleaned simply rinse one more time with purely distilled water and then your battery acid electrolyte solution. Be sure to test the electrolyte solution in which you're using with a proper tooling as the range of specific gravity must be achieved in order for the battery to operate properly.

The lead plates within each cell should look like they're not touching, which is usually the main cause of a lead acid battery failure during the charging and discharging fees of electrons, leaving the lead and sulphate plates causes corrosion or buildup of sulphates which intern cause an unintentional short within anyone battery cell. If anyone battery cell reads below 2.1 V the battery state of health will be compromised even if the SOC state of charge reads optimal within the 12.4 to 12.8 V range with ideal voltage always being 12.6 V after a quantified load test is performed with the gold standard being a carbon pile resistance type manual battery load tester. While electronic devices can be a good and fast test to indicate a batteries condition. we must first fully charged that battery with a known working charging source a.k.a. 10 amp battery charger while also taking note of the batteries, internal temperature and electrolyte levels. It's electrolyte level is low always add purely distilled water or reverse osmosis water to a level approximately half an inch above the top of each of the plates in each cell. Keep in mind that these cells are in fact, individual cells meaning each cell contains its own to similar metals within an electrolyte solution. So when filling one of the cells the other remaining cells will typically remain at the same level. Each of the 6 battery cells are connected in series I in order to create at 12.6 perfectly charged and perfectly working healthy battery once a load test has been performed. 6 x 2.1V in series equals 12.6v OPTIMAL BATTERY VOLTAGE. We must realize there is no such battery that consists of maintenance free as this is just an advertising gimmick in order to entice consumer interest to best sell their products. even when it batteries says maintenance free, the battery can be disassembled with the use of a utility knife and a hot air gun or hairdryer to soften up the rather rigid plastic materials in which the battery is encased in. Always perform this task wearing the proper PPE in an outdoor or well ventilated environment in order to inspect and properly clean a standard lead acid battery. The fill holes are simply just that electrolyte fill holes and is generally not considered a best practice when inspecting the internal battery structure. This can better be achieved with the use of a endoscope type camera of any quality that could attach to your cell phone or have a dedicated high definition screen with a LED light at the end of the scope to better diagnose a battery condition. if a battery is not completely or sufficiently cleaned of its shedding materials all of the work being performed will be rendered useless as a starting battery for an automotive setting. You be lucky if you can obtain any battery acid for sale nowadays. Its only for commercial companies, no sale to general public. Some can get through 'cooking it off ' drain cleaner solutions? But easiest is just recovery from 'old batteries', filter out gunk and reuse these.😮
