If you look at Soto numbers , now he is hitting 288 last time I looked .Those are not nearly 5 or 6 hundred million numbers , I don't care what anyone says . You have a 21 yr old kid in Dominquez . He was hitting 365 down in triple A .If he can hit like that , it has to add up to at least 300 in the majors . Now you have your replacement for Soto . Use Soto money and get us a couple of pitchers . . Our line up , if Dominquez hits and everything points to he will . We will be fine . I say it again , Soto is having a good year , not close to a 50 million a year player .

Why would Soto want to go to the mets .. people speak of the mets as if they are now the only team with the money to sign a player like Soto.. How many years in a row do the Yankees need to “mess up” and under perform before Hal Steinbrenner is removed as owner and Brian is fired as general manager? With his statements that there is no need to spend more money than their current payroll, Steinbrenner basically declares that Juan Soto is beyond his financial resources for 2025 and beyond. He also is limiting any chance of improving the team by signing any free agents in the offseason. And as a general manager, Cashman signed or traded for all those aging, unproductive, injured players (Josh Donaldson, Frankie Montas, etc) while also extending aging veterans (Aaron Hicks, DJ LaMahieu, etc) which prevented .them from going after actual productive players. The Yankees urgently needed a reliable closer and a younger ace type potential staring pitcher, but Steinbrenner and Cashman didn’t want to spend the money or trade prospects to achieve this obvious need. Instead they signed 2 non-impact, cheaper relief pitchers (one of whom is no longer with the team) and no starters. Clay Holmes who doesn’t possess strike out stuff as a closer was obviously not the answer.
