An Introduction to Ilam Toyota

Welcome to our dealership! In this video, a few of our team talk about their experiences with our awesome guests. www.ilamtoyota.co.nz
I have a 2012 hylux workmate, 2WD and it can get stuck on a wet patch of grass. LOL
"in between mode" is not the mode most people use becaue it is only present if you use the eco or power mode buttons.Every time you start it up in will be eco mode
Toyota Hilux is KING
Stumbled across this, thank you, very informative.
Thank you, Chris!
It's a beast 😎
We agree! :D Thanks @enricio
We have a 2019 D4D engine and it’s soooo gutless in 4H 2WD and 4H 4WD. Even up some hills I have to slip the clutch, feels like the torque isn’t doing anything
Great informative video, just purchased a UK spec 2019 Invincible X. Nice to know what it will do even if mine will never do any serious off roading, just dirt tracks and snow.
Awesome, congrats on your new Hilux! One of the best things about being behind this video from Christchurch in New Zealand is seeing all these comments from around the world of people who have just bought their own new Hilux vehicles, some in unique variations for each country. So good to hear - thanks again, and hope your new Hilux goes well! ^Mark
If I didn't already own one, this video would have sold me. Very insightful and informative.
Thanks so much! And hope you're enjoying your Hilux :)
So an automatic one of these is really that much better than a manual?
Thank you so much. This has to be the most informational and useful video on the subject in YT!
Unbelievable capabilities, well done, sir!
Free hilux tutorial. Beautiful!
What the heck is a jandal?
This is not a sales video, just an honest demonstration of a Hilux 👍
Thank you! Exactly what we were aiming for :)
didnt know ilam toyota had a channel, a customer here - gr yaris, LC300, 150 prado, couple of Rav4s and a hilux!
That's really good!
Thanks so much for explaining this vehicle to me . Go hilux , go power that 79 series now make it better
Wow thought my car was good but now I understand it so much better, worth it over the other types
Glad we could help, Samuella! :)
Can you use PWR mode taking off from 0 or do you have to be driving in order to use it
🇵🇬.,,.
Does the hill hold system work on manual hilux?
The load bin is hideous!
I have a question the 2 x4 will it be powerfull enough to pull my boat from a slipway or should I just go for 4 x 4
This is what I need to sell me on a car a guy who know what I wanna use it for wheeling and a work Ute
Just a great YT.. thanks made🇸🇪
I don't own a Toyota hilux but i drove one in off road and it was absolutely amazing. I wish i had known all this info presented in this video. Now i understand better how to drive the car. In the near future i will buy my own hilux.
Thanks so much, Matthias! We hope you have a Hilux in your driveway one day soon!
Great pres but it actually confirms automatic are a pain in the arse and they will never be as reliable and durable as a manual. CVT are notoriously rubbish, if they reach 80K lifespan it is a miracle, I am guessing the Hilux is a DCT which is slightly more reliable albeit you won't get 300K out of them and they are super expensive to repair. This is where the manual wins it for me, no point buying a car capable of reaching 400K if you have to have your auto transmission replaced or repaired every 100K. Now I don't know what the new Toyota "assisted" manual is and I don't like the sound of it too much (assisted sounds like automatic to me) I am just missing the 100% manual low gear knob because for me the main interest is that sometime going proper off road you come to a stop in front of a daunting obstacle, you're not going to drive straight into it and shift H2 to H4 to L4. You are going to stop you are going to assess, you are going to engage low gear and then go through the obstacle very slowly. I wish 4WD manufacturer would produce an "old school" series of their off roaders, no electric seats, no air conditioning, no electric windows, no leather, just rugged fabrics and rubber to the interior and everything manual for an affordable price, basically a tractor that is road capable without being a formula 1. Bouncy rides don't bother me so much, it comes with the size of the car because these things are meant to be driven, they are meant to be a bit physical. The whole assisted this and that sometimes is just a name code for over engineered aka will let you down. A great durable 4WD should have very little electronic and be absolutely bulletproof. I am not super convinced that the latex Hilux is as durable as the models from the 90s for this reason. I am a biker and I am the same with my bikes, I hate bikes that you don't feel, they ride soft, there is no character nor physicality to it and it feels unsafe. Whatever the vehicle is you should feel a response to it, clutch are meant to be a bit physical to shift, pedals and steering wheels are meant to be a little physical too. I don't think that clients realize that the less physical a car is, the more parts there are and the more parts there are to assist you, the more likely it is to break down. Less moving parts is always better for durability. Thanks for the presentation though, it is great. I like that it is not a permanent 4WD. For me the match is between the Hilux and the Mercs X350D, granted Toyota is always a better choice in NZ.
I am just a dumb cave man and I love my 86 high lux4*4 20r 😊 💨
Bloody amazing, totally and absolutely amazing. Great presentation and clearly demonstrated. That's clarified my choice of cars Amorak or Hilux and Hilux it is! Thank you
Thanks so much, Philip! All the best for your new Hilux and welcome to the Toyota family!
Very informative, I have a 2016 Hilux 2.8 but wondering why the rear locker keeps dropping out.Have to keep activating every time you stop get going again? The rear factory locker can only be used on Low range, no good for sand driving or when momentum is needed. I had to get a E locker fitted to the front so I can have a locker using High range especially driving through sandy Exits. Absolute necessity !! At times its difficult to change back through from 4 L to 4h or even activating the rear Locker. I always have to select Neutral and (rock back and forth) that help some times. The Installer did tell me the rear diff lock is just a LSD maybe that's why its not very effective, It would be interesting to see if anyone had the same experience. Cheers , Mick S.
I love how he says "when i give it the jandal' churrrrrrr 🇳🇿
What year of Hilux is this box in ? I'm UK based so what model of Hilux would I be looking for in the UK to get this? Thankyou.
Hi Ian, we filmed this in New Zealand in 2019 with the current model Hilux of the time. We'd recommend passing that info - and this video link - onto your local Toyota Store and asking them to confirm whether this matches the UK model of the time. Good luck!
@@ilamtoyota good advice thankyou. Ps great video and very informative driver 👌
Ps in new Zealand what do you call this transmission? Might help when asking 👍
@@ian4782 hey thanks, we appreciate it! We'll be sure to pass that onto Pete as well :)
@@ian4782 I believe this one could be the 6-speed automatic transmission with 'Automatic Disconnecting Differential'. Last page of the spec sheet: www.toyota.co.nz/globalassets/brochures/2021/hilux-range-03-21-web.pdf
Don't often comment on videos but wanted to say thanks. Have a 2022 on order, only ever owned 75 series and kun26 hiluxes and have no idea how modern cars work. This explained quite a lot 👍
Absolutely fantastic video
Thank you, Nicholas!
Salut my friend super car super video subscribe subscribe .

Great teacher......wow...thank you for helping me become a 4x4 toyota hilux good driver...And i am loving my toyota hilux legend Auto 2021 model.....
I just bought the new SR5, I dont pick it up till next week this video is amazingly helpful considering Im coming from a 2008 N70
Thanks for the feedback, and congrats on your new SR5! ^Mark
Awesome!! You made it much easier to understand than the manual! Thank you!!!
Thanks so much! We're so glad we could help you understand more about the Hilux :)
@@ilamtoyota A question for you guys. On my 2022 Hilux do I need to install an oil catch can and a secondary fuel filter?!?!
@@鍔木紀子 it depends - your 2022 Hilux has been designed and built by engineers that have built your vehicle in a tried-and-tested way to get the best possible results and driving performance for most common uses. If you want to use your Hilux in a way that may differ from the norm or you have other needs, then your first step is to go to your nearest Toyota Store and ask them for recommendations based on your needs and your particular model. Hope that helps!
@@ilamtoyota t Thank you again!!!
I love my toyotas and own a fortuner but gotta say the mitsubishi super select system is more advanced
City Car salesman: You want the specification range of power using the throttle to progressively increase speed. Hilux salesman: Give it some Jandal...
Best information ever. Better than some of those pickup truck drag race videos.
Thanks Geeth!
This guy is the ObiWan of Toyota Hilux’
Got a 4x4 TD SR5 Manual professional demonstration coming any time soon?
Wish the DAC was tuned a bit slower, bit too brisk for rocky downhill descents.
Im just looking at a 2wd cause i dont really go offroad a lot but I want a rock solid ute and Hilux is my choice. I may occasionally go onto the beach or some wet ground so its really nice to know that the 2WD has something there
This is the only actually useful training presentation on using the Hilux drive system that I have seen to date. Well done.
Thank you, Barry! Appreciate the support.
@@ilamtoyota agreed!
Too bad it makes the sunglasses holder feature so small that you can't fit most sunglases in there. How do you remove the thing so I can cut it fit glasses?
Great explanation , thanks !
What do i do if it refuses to switch back to h2 from l4
I have watched this so many times and learned something different each time. Thank you!
Thanks so much, David! Glad you're finding our video useful.
