now i understand why luigi vs mario aka mario adventure 2 isn´t completed
Remember, if you struggle at any point in a level, it is very likely that players who never played or seen the level will struggle even more. When you playtest your levels, you should try to beat the level without any powerups or badges. Know what skills and knowledge you want each level to test the player on. If you find any part of the level challenging for the wrong reasons, you should investigate and try to adjust it. If you overcome an obstacle just because you remember it being there, other players may not know it is there and will not react fast enough to avoid it.
@@denischen8196 I actually did play test every level without the need of any power-ups. There is nothing wrong with players struggling a little with a level. The game is meant to be a bit of a challenge. Remember, I worked 12 years on this game, I do not remember everything by heart. Many players have beaten the game, so the game is not prohibitively difficult. It would be a bad thing for me to have focused solely on the lowest denominator, but I did add a few accessibility features to help those who have trouble with the game. Just because players find that the game has some challenge to it does not make it a bad design.
Since coins respawn when entering pipes, can you farm coins infinitely? If you defeat a spider when it is high up, will the climbable web rope be too short and lock you out from progressing? 58:46 The star coins are back. Can you get this star twice? What happens if you get the star coin at the bottom last and the star falls down? If you are at the last world and you need stars in the first world, do you have to walk all the way back or is there fast travel? Why can't fire fox Mario melt ice blocks? Are Fuzzies supposed to be more difficult at night because the tracks are invisible?
Just downloaded this tonight! It's impressive what you've done here! I'll be telling all the classic NES players I know about it. Thanks for your dedication to this project! I'm so excited to play this!!
Love it!!
Sounds good so far! Maybe you can engineer an original soundtrack for the whole game. Are you a musician by any chance? If you ever need help, don't ask me--I've lost my ability to hold the right notes at full voice--but I do know another fledgling RUclipsr by the name of Sound Engraver who does electronic music. Beware as most videos of hers tends to be opinionated, although the recent videos have more to do with composition tips. She might be able to answer the odd question that comes to mind: www.youtube.com/@SoundEngraver
@@christopherthibeault7502 I'll be coming up with original tracks for MA3#, I'm not a musician but have played instruments in the past. I actually have a few folks I'm reaching out to help, but I appreciate the referral!
I love it 😍
Nice
REEEEEEEEMIX!
Nice re-work of the music. 😀😀
Can others contribute?
@@CasualtiesOfGaming I've tried in the past to have others contribute but it's difficult due to my sporadic nature of working on the project.
I'm really glad you added options so people who aren't as good can experience all the levels without rage quitting & never coming back. I'm still playing 1.6.8, so I have to use slow motion & save states to get through certain parts (I've been playing classic SMB3 since it came out & I guess I'm still not that good 😹) I was telling my girlfriend how much I love this game & that it's equal parts genius & frustration. Never unfair, but things like the flying head on the dry bones drove me a little crazy!! I'm hoping some day I'll be able to finish the game without cheating, but I'm starting to think I'll have to use real NES controllers & not the ones on the Anbernic. The d-pad makes the vine parts infuriating, but that's just my Chinese handheld d-pad, not the game. Can't wait to play this on my Retro USB AVS once it's done done for sure finished done!! 😜♥
Looking forward to try it
Jam-packed, well-made game! I got an idea... Make a warp zone that takes you BACK levels -- but makes them harder or adds a secret stage or item. Feel free to use -- just credit me if you do!:-)
@@truthup not to spoil anything, but there is a warp zone and there is a second quest where you replay the game with harder versions of the levels, so sorry, I can't credit you because I already did it ^_^
TURN IT UP TO 12!!! ... MAKE A SECRET -- THIRD -- QUEST!!!
1:22:01 - I totally agree with the blue night sky, It's a big improvement and looks great
Watching your game is inspiring me to keep motivated on my own. This game is so good, so innovative, so diverse. Amazing work!
Bad ass stream as always
With the amount of people covering this game, you deserve far more views. Smb3 rom hacking owes you a debt for 20 years of effort
I noticed an issue with one of the levels in world 2 (it’s the level with the ice lakitu who drops ice and freezes the water) at the very end of the level, the malice mushroom falls into the pit unless lakitu freeze the surface in time. (That’s really cool by the way) But the problem is that often times unless you approach the end of the level at high speed, it’s easy to not even see the malice mushroom before it falls into the pit. The timing of when the mushroom generates should be adjusted so it’s not so easy to miss before it falls and disappears. I made it to the end of that level initially and did not see the mushroom at all because it fell into the pit so fast so I was looking everywhere else for the mushroom. Spent 40 minutes on that level haha
BTW nice dress
you back?? NICE TO SEE YOU PLAYING AGAIN💜💜
I'm enjoying the hack so far, although usually I'm playing the level a couple to a few times over to get everything. But there's lots of variety in the design, so it's pretty good! There's two things I've noticed in the most recent version so far: Ninja Mario blends with the night background, and the P-Meter doesn't change as small or Super Mario.
@@MisterAutist that's interesting that the Ninja suit blends with the black background, the latest version was actually changed to make the Ninja suit a dark blue against black backgrounds. Are you on v1.9.8?
Yup, just repatched yesterday for v1.9.8. And I've noticed in World 2, Freezie Frostbite Fjord

the Idea of making open worlds where the levels are completely playable is great but dude the early maps are looking so freaking crazy
The title screen does not look professional. It would be better if you made an animated opening sequence for V2.0. Remember how iconic the SMB3 title screen is? I can see it in my minds eye visually just remembering the falling curtain, the offscreen shells, etc. The title screen was like a short machinamatic play, telling a small story about the brothers mischievousness. It would be nice if you had an intro screen story like that, but instead showing off some of your new functionalities and power-ups.
@@zyxyuv1650it's good it doesn't look professional, because I'm not a professional, I'm a hobbyist -_^
Also, in my defense, many NES title screens are black backgrounds with, 4 colors. I don't think the title screen is that bad at all. In fact, it has a title logo with multiple colors, a menu to start a new game or continue your existing one, the stars can be manipulated with controller input. Compared to many NES title screens, those created by professionals, Mario Adventure 3 is quite colorful and lively.
Although that would've been nice, it's not really necessary. The effort already shows through the hack itself.
We’re having the Mario Adventure trilogy with this one!
