Thank you for this info! Great to have options, especially if an excursion is fully booked through Viking. We just went on our first Viking River cruise and are super interested in the ocean side of Viking. Were you the youngest on board and how was the company? We were the youngest on our River ship and met some amazing people but are wondering how that would be on a longer ocean cruise.

We have sailed with Viking 6 times … I like the bed as is.. my wife is like you and needs more padding.. she requests this and they make up her side with the extra padding and it is perfect… we always have our own travel pillows being frequent travelers so I can not comment there.. I can say Viking is very anxious to please and that is tops with me!

Scanned your videos and didn't see this comparison: for the base traveler, how about collecting the costs of a Viking cruise and it's included items, vs other cruise lines for the same features. I find that for the same room, dining options, and same features, Viking is often only a few hundred more.

Who do you book your excursions with in Norway. We are doing the same cruise this year and would like to try booking are own. Thanks

My God every tourist wants to good all the best on floating house,where crew work for 6-7 months,food storage refill every 2 weeks or even more,wine can’t to be missing if there is not a specific bottle (drama) almost stop the ship to get A bottle from outside 😅

Hotels have done a great job with providing comfortable bedding, cruise lines need to follow suit!

Very much a personal preference issue. My wife and I have sailed with Viking before and had no bed or pillow issues. Viking Amazon cruise this Feb.

We've done two Viking river cruises and one ocean cruise (Iceland). Your evaluation was absolutely spot on, in my opinion. The food was very good, and maybe suffered in comparison to every other aspect of the Viking experience, which was totally over the top. Looking forward to our Viking Great Lakes Explorer cruise this summer.

TIP When using the Viking Laundromat you need to press the soap diapenser on the wall next to the washers to dispense soap into the washer. If you don't press the numbered soap dispenser that matches your washer you will only be washing in water. Did a load of wash without knowing this tip. Maintenance explained this procedure to me after messing up.

Took 3 viking cruises. 2 river to Europe and ocean to Alaska. Good experience as he described. Excellent service. Only drawback was the drunk Texans with their MAGA hats who frequented the bar area. Was hoping to be rid of the white trash, but no cruise line is perfect

My daughter and I did the Viking homelands. So we were on for 2 weeks we absolutely loved everything about it

I have been on three Viking ocean cruises and we never had a problem with sleeping. The mattress and pillows were just great. In fact we did some of our best sleeping on the cruise. You two must have very sensitive sleeping requirements that are out of the norm. Thanks for sharing. BTW we joy booked our 4th Viking Ocean cruise!

Do you have a recommendation for which Junior Penthouse Suite? I have heard the Bocci balls can be heard above some of the rooms. Thus I wonder if one or more suites might be preferable to the others. Thank you

Yes but they need to change the mattresses often so it’s best to use something less expensive.

We had no problem with the bedding and have cruised several times with Viking. These people seem kind of difficult. A soft bed would be a deal breaker for me.

You folks are on your own with this. Eight Viking cruises and never a bed issue. The disclaimer at the end was like, "are you kidding me?"

We have been on 5 Viking Ocean Cruises. We never have had a bed issue. Great cruises. To each his own.

Your experiences with the food exactly as mine when I wrote up my Tripadvisor and CruiseCritic reviews of our Viking Mediterranean Odyssey. World Cafe food was often cold under the warming lights, could play frisbee with the waffles, and nothing special but the desserts and gelato were fine, as I noted in my own review! :-) We were under-impressed by Manfredi's and ate their only once because the menu never changed and the food was just OK. The Restaurant was nice to sit at, didn't open until 8 am for breakfast so we ended up at the World Cafe for most breakfasts because we were always up early. At least The Restaurant offered some new options each day and whatever they did provide I thought was fairly good. But yes, as you noted, the food was not what I had heard Viking excelled at. And while we found the beds just fine, the pillows were not pillows, they were so soft and mushy that we ended up lying flat even though we asked for extra pillows. Again, as you noted, will take some of our own pillows. Our travel friends are looking for another cruise to go on and we're thinking British Isles. We were there on Viking in August 2024 and are looking at something for Fall 2025. Thanks for the reviews and best of luck to you in your personal quests...

I really enjoyed your review, I’ve been on three ocean cruises, and I only disagreed with you on the food and bedding. I thought the food was excellent. and I thought the beds were more than comfortable. But that is a personal choice and I respect your opinion. We are all rescheduled for two more ocean cruises. And we’ve been on three river cruises as well. You need to try one of those. Only 180 people on the ship. I know you would enjoy it. Thanks for entertaining review.

Shout out to you two!🥂My wife & I have lived your journey - & ended up stopping our treatments & after consideration, did not pursue adoption. We've now been happily married for 31 years - and we are SO HAPPY WITH OUR LIFE & OUR DECISION! We'll both be retired before 60 (5 years away) & we travel all the time now. Ahhh... you remined me of the details of our trip on Viking. The amazing thing about Viking is that although there was no show stopper, I do agree about the wine being just so so... Unfortunately, the Viking Steak (supposed to be a ribeye) was less than 1/2 inch thick, grizzly, and I think breaded. I opted out of that steak and asked for the New York Steak that was perfect. Overall, I still give the food a great rating, I just avoided the strange stuff and simply picked the things I know I liked. Referring to the entertainment, I loved the lounge, found that the classical music in the main hall became mundane and lacked life. It is important that the choice of music build up to a crescendo in tone, rate, and volume to make the music feel alive - thank goodness for earbuds and headsets and my own music. Overall, I am happy enough to book another cruise but would love to offer my assistance / experience in picking wine, doing tastings, and timing entertainment a little better.

My late wife and I stayed in the aft Explore suite. It was very, very nice. We had breakfast delivered each morning and the large table was a help. Since my wife passed away, I booked a Penthouse Jr. and that’s just fine. There’s plenty of space. Very comfortable.

I'd be afraid of missing the ship if I took a non Viking excursion.

I'm confused. Your mattresss looks soft to me but in another video a couple said it was hard. I prefer a firm mattress and a top sheet and a light blanket instead of the duvets that are too warm and heavy for me. Could you clarify - and can they provide a sheet and blanket and not the duvet?
