    So does this mean that if I have Ma'afala breadfruit, I need to prune it differently?

    • @anissa_lucero
      @anissa_lucero 2 месяца назад

      Maafala I would say is one of the easier varieties to prune as the growth structure of the tree is more predictable. Essentially topping it every few years and maintaining plenty space between trees should help to keep you tree harvestable.

    Why arent you just working with the organization in hawaii that already grows like 300 kinds of breadfruit to feed the world? Why not work with or stand on the shoulders of those giants instead of going to polynesia separately which I'm sure they have already done? I'm not being antagonistic, but it seems like starting there would have been more efficient and the funds you raised could have just gone to buying land for a community garden or something. Anyway..since you know a lot about breadfruit- I'm fixing to grow one in a 30 or 40 foot high greenhouse I have access to. Of course some of this would go to the staff but the excess could go to the foodbank, but since these trees are so huge, maybe a smaller variety? The environmental challenges we have is hard water 550ppm which is alkaline, low humidity, and thrips. Also once this thing gets big, it will be growing up to the hot ceiling. Any suggestions on varieites?

      Aloha! Mahalo for the comment, where are you located? I ended up going to Samoa, and it was the best thing I could have done as I learned so much! I am aware of the Breadfruit Institute at NTBG, and they are one of our advisors at the Hawaii Ulu Cooperative, and I am always learning from them as well!
