In terms of flavour - maybe Great Unclean One (a Warhammer 40k card). This would not at all synergise with the plague cards but if you know the 40k lore, the Great Unclean One is the Greater Demon of Nurgle to Chaos God of Disease and Decay. Otherwise a lot of GB legends have that kind of disease and decay theme!

I don’t mind them taking their own takes on IPs. Just make it flavour fully resonant and respectful to the IP is what I ask. Cheap flavour matches or incoherent mechanical/flavour matching is what I don’t like…

Well, there has been a lot of scuttlebutt about Sponge Bob which is only going to be a Secret Lair. Also, I appreciate I used a Fortnite secret lair image - but I was just being provocative. I don’t mind the full blown UB sets if the flavour is good.

I agree. I just don’t think they would be our real world imaginings of aliens. They might be something else - like Eldrazi or Phyrexians as you say!

I haven’t read the original books but from what I could glean from the Magic story for the Brothers War set that it was very important. I’ll have to find some time to read the OG novels!

Possibly - but I’m not sure phasing quite hits the flavour they were after. The Thalakos are not the only creatures with shadow - the Soltari and the Dauthi being the others. In lore, they were all trapped in the void between Rath and Dominaria. So I think they were meant to be lost forever (but not to each other), rather than coming and going. Also they got rid of phasing more as less as soon as they made it because the gameplay is pretty poor with it!

The regular art has just been spoiled too but I think whilst it’s just a creepy - (creepy porcelain doll vibes) it’s not as overall spidery as this one.

It’s narrow - because it doesn’t hit artifacts. But in a meta where you see enchantments it might just save your life! Also it’s got some pretty great art!

I started in 4th edition. And then stopped around 5th edition only to join back around the pandemic. So I missed all of it. Scryfall is a wonderful tool!

And with doctor who cards there is food people actually eat. Except for custard and fish fingers!

​@@MTGFlavoursauceI'll be looking forward to it on April 1st! Until then, I have a suggestion on a flavor subject. How the cards in shared color identities differentiate themselves. Golgari and Witherbloom have the same colors and very similar functions, but they feel different. On the other hand, some color combos are less restrictive. Boros and Lorehold don't feel similar in the slightest.
