@@ArmchairArchaeology One of the problems with the "Cambrian explosion" in my mind was the assumption that there was an actual explosion of life and not just a lack of the necessary conditions present to preserve fossils in sedimentation, the snowball earth theory does answer this question. Or at least offer up some reason why the necessary parameters for sedimentation were lacking. It's hard to imagine what conditions were suddenly 'present' for such an explosion of life to happen, without a counter scenario like glaciation. It's also difficult to imagine that a lack of deposition and sedimentation were a possible cause without glaciation given the ongoing history of sedimentation and deposition as a core principles in earth's geological timeline The numerous anomalous 'drop stones' found in out of place geological strata are probably the most convincing evidence of a snowball earth. It really poses a bigger question ...'if life were largely present during snowball earth ...'what type of organisms were they and what niches did they fill'... It's a fascinating idea and one we might never have answers for.

Part of the appeal of youtube channels to me is that it is personal and made by somebody real, so I do think it loses a certain authenticity when it's AI narration even if it is a good one. To me I associate AI voices with stolen content and click farming reuploads on tiktok (which may be a bias of mine) but it seems more genuine the more human input there is.
