Aww, thanks Bruce - I'm betting you were a great teacher - loved, admired & respected - do you bump into former students very often? I think when we're younger, we project an image that we think people will respond to favourably, hiding our authentic selves away for fear of ridicule & rejection - using bluster and bravado as a sham facade for protection but in reality, people (and ourselves) like us best when we are honest, genuine & authentic - so much less effort too! :)

@@nottherealmccoy4955 Indeed, many of my former students still keep in contact, mostly through FB. It is fun to watch them grow and start their own lives. Sometimes, when I still feel the urge or need to protect myself, that mask comes out pretty quickly to hide behind. But as you say, it sure is easier to be true to oneself.

Thanks Helen! I certainly have but up until only recently, only the really horrible, threatening people populated the forefront of my mind but since retirement, those unpleasant memories have faded away & been replaced by seemingly long forgotten pleasant characters & warm, lovely to recollect experiences - like being revisited by an old and trusted friend! I was a bit reticent to visit this shop - the owner/manager had a ready smile but cold, hard watchful eyes - a bit unnerving but I got it done! :)

Haha, thanks Berina! The sound of waves is soothing - like water tumbling over boulders in a river- a sound our ancient ancestors would instantly recognise & be comforted by! Fishing video coming too - 3 fish caught & cooked - so delicious! There are thousands of sharks & most of them we never see & only very rarely does anyone get bitten - more people die from falling coconuts or being kicked by donkeys!! Haha, I think you would love driving, Berina - you would speed around overtaking everyone!! :)

Hey Kim! It's crystal clear, about 65 - 70F will be 75F+ by Xmas smells salty & tangy from weed & kelp and dissolved ozone & bathes your eyes, flushes out any infections - a balm for the spirit also! So glad you like to come for a paddle with me - it's funny, whenever I press record ( the Gopro makes a very loud beep when record or stop is pressed) I feel your & other stalwarts of the channels presence and I very rarely, if ever, have to edit out any expletives - it's a very warm and comfortable feeling! Haha, sharks are there & there is a remote possibility of getting bitten but getting hit by an errant board & getting knocked unconscious & drowning or hitting my head on the reef, broken neck quadriplegic or stroke - happened to 3 guys at Spot X in the last 10 years! Yes, the sound is very special, soothing & nap inducing! Haha, there you are, yarrow in hand - a staunch supporter.. :)

Such as, when I'm extremely frustrated thinking I'd hit record but actually didn't! Or wild turkeys in the chicken run! Or my son falling off the roof! 😁 😎

Haha, if you did a risk assessment on all the potential threats you face daily in Z9B - bacterial infection from a minor cut, electric shock from faulty electrical cord or severing a power cable while digging, fungal lung infection from contaminated potting mix, bee, wasps, snakes.. life is dangerous but we have to live it & follow our hearts and our passions!! I think even the most prudish viewer would overlook a mouthful of invective when Jim fell off the roof! I was so shocked when you told me - definitely a tough breed! :)

Thanks Sharon! Yeah, great run of waves - been rubbish ever since though! Haha, loving the gloves I've got small hands so the extra surface area really makes a difference! I did - took my Sis fishing again & she's coming down for 3 weeks in October! You too! :)

Last year I really struggled to even catch a wave - way too heavy & I'd wipeout every time - very frustrating so now 60lbs down, I'm catching and riding waves again & absolutely loving it! Usually last about 3 hours before I'm too exhausted to continue! :)
