Yeah, I find 123rf a bit awkward with the uploading. I feel like when I do upload there, I have trouble finding the files! Either way, not having luck getting any reviewed there lately, so I'm wondering if they maybe won't be accepting new content soon. :(

The boardgames are editorial, the sheet music is not. Looking back, I find it interesting. Even though the music is no longer copyrighted and the print is generic, I'm guessing it would not get approved nowadays. It was accepted across several sites years back!

I need to try shooting video on my DSLR using a shorter lens. The few times I've tried, I had a long lens and no tripod or other way to stabilize the camera. Needless to say, it gave me motion sickness watching the clips!

Yes! This was something I should have mentioned in the video, but thought about after. I've been taking out my 70-200 f2.8 in the mornings to get more light. Since I'm shooting on a 5D Mark IV, I have a lot of room to crop, and also can use enlarging software if necessary (I use Gigapixel by Topaz). I sometimes use my 100-400 f4.5-5.6, but have found that at the longer focal lengths, the variable 5.6 aperture was just pushing it too much. I always prioritize my shutter speed, keeping my aperture as wide open as possible, while using auto ISO. This became an issue with the 100-400 and not enough light. Shots were sometimes too noisy to salvage. Hope that helps!

I photographed some graffiti on a wall of a building that was going to be demolished. It was rejected because that piece of vandalism was someone else’s work.

I had a handful of videos up on Pond5 for several years and only sold one. Within the past few months, I’ve started submitting video elsewhere too and haven’t sold any yet!

I’ve never found out! No info through the agency and could never find anything online either.

Are you asking if you can submit the same image more than once? You aren’t supposed to have duplicate images in your portfolio. Hope that helps!

Hi! Yes, the cruise ship ones are editorial because of the logos and artwork. Interesting thing I found out, Carnival has a special shape to its funnel that is supposedly trademarked, so unmarked details of their ships containing that portion would not be ok for commercial use. I’ve learned to always research before submitting images! 😳

I first started submitting in 2007, but to just a few agencies with a very small portfolio. I started to take it seriously in about 2013 or so.

I have 3800 assets on Adobe. I’ve been with them since 2007, when they were Fotolia.

True, but I find they do help! Most of the time, I’m still doing the keywording myself, but if I’m having a moment when my brain isn’t functioning, I can go to the app and use my leftover credits! 😂

Do you mean an Adobe account? I believe you can have multiple accounts - for example, maybe one for your photos, one for AI, etc. Please check with Adobe to make sure.

If you mean they are not getting reviewed, I don’t know. Some photographers think it may be the high number of AI images in queue. Try submitting some editorial images and see if they get accepted. My editorial images get accepted quickly, but my commercial images took several months.

I submit to all of the main microstock sites - Adobe Stock, Shutterstock, iStock, Alamy, Dreamstime, Deposit Photos, Pond5

I’ve definitely found that it depends on the photo. Certain ones sell great on one site and never on another. My illustrative editorial tends to do really well on Adobe. I do wish they’d accept other editorial work. I have so many images that sell well elsewhere that I wish they would take!

Pretty much all of the agencies accept them. They are compressed and only 72 dpi for YT.

No, I only license them as editorial, so no release needed.

I find this true with my commercial images. I just had a batch approved that had been in queue for over two months. My editorial ones, however, generally get approved in a day or two! AI are somewhere in between, but much faster than commercial.

What can I do now?? Upload assest on save work? Saving the work and uploading daily help in review??

I’ve found that commercial images take a long time for approval nowadays. I just had ones approved that had sat for about 2.5 months. However, once approved, they are still selling. Editorial will likely be approved faster… AI a little faster. I’m not sure about uploading daily and saving work. I need to play around with that and see if a constant flow of images, versus a bulk submission, makes a difference. I’ve seen some people recommend that for just overall portfolio exposure and sales. Hope that helps!

It depends. For me, my images sell well and have made money even in the years I just let them sit on the stock sites. Adobe is an easy one to upload and submit to, so I will keep going!
