This new system aims for Personal Development which is something youth need nowadays. While yes, I also believe the old system is better too, we must think futuristically and allow them to know how best they should develop themselves before considering returning the old system.

I think this system is awesome. Personal growth is so much better than competitiveness and makes a way for them to know what they are good at and work on that. Which will be a great tool in the real world. It also is good for their integral development and their wellness. The drawbacks are really just minor stuff, we can explain the meaning of their grades to them. We need to change prioritizing the grade rather than real or meaningful learning.

Old grading system is a lot better

The amount of study permits won't change much. We need to do more to make sure those offering housing or employment here in Canada are not able to abuse the international students. There needs to be regulation, oversight, protections, and resources to protect international students, not an artificial reduction of the problem by reducing the number of atudents themselves. That's like killing homeless people to solve the homelessness crisis. It technically reduces the scale of the problem, but nonetheless makes things worse for the people most effected. The increased desperation for the opportunity to study here will make students MORE exploitable, not less.
