not to mention in bdl2 they showed us a map of worlds and gave us a hint of possability of planet jumping with alot of vaults. but since the failing of the movie and bdl3 seem they are damage control.

really hate how they stopped the story of borderlands , and are basically coming up with a new serious borderlands instead lame. i would love to know what happened to lilith . not liking the new characters at all or classes they offer. might skip it

I am on team Lilith hater ngl, I think it really started with the pre sequel for me, BL3 really just made me like her not less but just not more.

Lilith hate came from non skip dialog. I kinda hope no one comes back. I love all the npcs but if axton and Sal were turned into announcers and brick and Mort are just some dudes raising Tina in a shack in the middle of nowhere. Why keep them? Give us new npcs to like

BL2 definitely had some distinction. Siren is obvious. Sal is actually quite short as well as stalky. Zer0 is tall and slender. Kreig was beefy, and Gaige had the spunky hair and skirt. Axton is the most boring, but in this colorful crew, he sticks out. For BL4, if that guy's blades were somewhat visible while passive, it would give him way more character. The siren being in the cloak doesn't help the blade guy and big pants lady. Washes out the group and removes the distinctiveness of her being The Siren

I can sort of see where you're coming from but i dont 100% agree with you. 1: the borderlands 1 and base game 2 vault hunters are definitely boring looking, but its clear to see from the character designs what their archetypes are. Brick might just look like a meat head but his action skill reflects that. The only discernible character out of the bl4 VHs is the siren. Without gameplay would we ever be able to tell that the big guy isnt the melee one? 2: I dont agree with your takes on the pre sequel and bl3 VHs being boring. You can clearly tell what each character roughly entales for pre sequel and you failed to mention cl4ptp (who design wise is arguably the most unique of any VHs so far). Id argue that Amara is significantly cooler than lillith but again thats personal opinion. Ill admit moze is definitely the most boring but Zane keeps the same level of mystery as Zero IMO and Fl4k is obviously awesome. 3: To push off of my 2nd point, Just because the older VHs were a little boring off of announcement doesnt mean the scepticism over BL4's VHs isnt fair. Since I think that the presequel characters and 3 characters are cooler design wise than 2 or 1, I dont think its unreasonable to hope for better considering the state the franchise is in and what we got from the two previous mainline games was IMO quite good. I stand strong in the mindset that character designs arent the be all and end all of the game, but its certainly important in hyping the game up. We want the game to be good and for lots of people to buy it so gearbox supports it for a long time and hopefully we can get a BL 5 or spin off in the future, and boring character designs dont help in hyping it up. I think the negativity over the designs is a bit much, but we still dont have a lot of information on the gameplay so the concentration of people talking character design is much higher. I think games companies do significantly better when under scrutiny from fans and critics alike and gearbox need this to be a hit for theirs and our sakes. I'd love to hear any counter points if you have any, and this comment wasnt intended to offend, just to start a debate 🙂

I dont think the hunters are supposed to be unique (outside the 1 in a billion chance to be born a siren ofc). Theyre supposed to be one of millions looking to secure the next vault and the trasure inside.

I think with Borderlands, they put a little less emphasis to the main characters because you don't usually look at their face in the game and more to abilities and story of the game. Me personally I don't care much about character design, I'm more interested in the story, and so far the storyline in the Borderlands game hasn't been too bad.

this was done in pretty bad faith first of all the hunters in every game pop out within their respective games you where also shown immediatly who they are and what they are about, by design, art and gameplay bl1 obviously is the first but even then they do stand out roland and mordecai the least but even they look interesting enough in bl2 all 6 stand, axton stands out cuz he is the only normal guy out of 5 very interesting other characters you CANNOT tell me gaige krieg zero and maya dont immidiatly pop out salvador pops out due to his short and wielding 2 guns which makes him still rather colourful in tps its once more that all characters pop out of their envirement and from each other the bl3 hunters ALL pop out even moze who is the most generic in bl4 only the siren pops out of the group with the black girl legit being so hard to notice most just forget her while talking about the game and the VHs which is why they talk about her in the first place the dude on the left has nothing rly making him pop either, seems almost like an npc walking with the group the big guy unlike brick legit has not enough bright colours to pop out brick has big arms and white skin which DOES help him to pop out the bl4 big guys entire colour scheme is brownish, they can keep him black, but then at least make the cybernetics pop by making them look a bit more bright or glow or SOMETHING

They again made the Vilians more interesting than the heros! Handsome Jack/Butt Stalion, the Twins, and now again in this one I'm more interested in finding out more about the bad guys story than playing our actual characters.

Massive disagree. Borderlands 1 the only character that doesn't stand out is Roland. Brick being as he is stands out a lot being the hulking man he is and Mordicai as well with his eye patch and design being the 'weaker' of those three still was unique enough for me to notice. Same with 2 with Axton (filling in effectively for Roland) is the only plain looking one with Sal's short stature almost immediately making him stick out beng the 'weakest' of the ones not Axton. Even the 'weaker' choices though they still stand out being exceptions of the cast, being more 'regular' with a bunch of more odd looking characters it DOES make them stick out. TPS and BL3... yeah I agree, those games failed horribly with character design with it getting worst as they go. Just take the character designs and go to someone who doesn't know ANYTHING about the BL games and see. Way before details were released I had friends talking about BL1 about who the characters were and who we would play and conversations easily lead to being about the characters looking interesting without details and for the most part, what people assumed about the characters ended up true since character design wise myself and my friends could figure out easily. Not everything (Lilith having stealth and stuff tied to it being a clear example of stuff we didn't know about) but for the most part we could figure out weapon choice and combat style off a quick glance of their images alone without further details about them.

I think I've figured out why I don't like the vault hunters based on the stuff we've seen so far. It's that there isn't as much in their character design that showcases what role they play in combat. For the most part this was evident in the past game. For example BL1: Brick was big muscular and built like a tank, he fills the role of tank, Mordecai was an in times themed sniper and was portrayed with a sniper rifle, Roland filled the generic soldier mid line role, Lilith was the vibrant uniqueness to the gameplay being the Siren. BL2: Zero has that assassin vibe to him with the sword and stealthy design, axton filled the soldier role, Sal has a strong look to him so he can fit the tank role, Maya the Siren once again the specialty of the game and filled the support role. Gaige has several signs of being an engineer style character with the outfits they choose as her default, Kreig is... Well Kreig lol. He's a psycho who can fill the Tank role in his unique way. BL3: So BL3 flipped things on it's head. Amara the siren now looks to be the tank character with the physically strong look and arm based Siren powers, Fl4k is in environmental clothing made him look like a hunter character and then he has a pet to solidify the look, Moze is a soldier through and through, Zane has the more sleek operative look (but Zane is probably one of the worst designed when it comes to this metric) he has his jacket and facial hair style to support the operative look. With the BL4 vault hunters we see a basic dude on the left, the siren, a bigger tanky looking dude, and another kinda basic looking character on the right has a thinner build with some tech so maybe a support techy character. It's really difficult to look at the characters and be like,"I wanna play the assassin" or "I wanna play the soldier" if it wasn't for the tattoos it'd be difficult to tell the siren was a siren, you could from Lilith and Maya, with Amara That's less so but she had other stuff to tell us what role she plays. If her tattoos were covered it'd be really difficult to tell and I personally don't see any indications as of right now what her role in combat will be based on her design. With the guy on the left if it wasn't for the showcase of his swords and stuff I don't think I see much, my instinct says an operative style character, but I don't have too much to go off other than the jacket. I think this issue would have been solved if they showed us a little more of the action skills or more gameplay with the characters from a trailer point of view. Just my thoughts on the characters based on what I know right now.

No annointments please. We have enough to worry about if a gun is good already. And i really hope they balance the weapons better than in BL3. I'd love if normal purples were at least usable. Purple masher pistol compared to the Maggie for instance. It made other Masher pistols obsolete. Oh and also keep your identity politics tf out of the game. I know that's impossible though because Western game dev. They obviously don't learn. Well have fun failing and being the last Borderlands game ever if you are unable to learn from recent failures in the gaming industry.

Mayhem mode could stay if wasn't the whole foundation of the endgame. Mayhem mode should just add random effects like low gravity, super jump, badass enemiy party, and doom effect ( punch low health foes for health and ammo.) No increase of health or damage reduction.

Yes on all points add 5. Boss Invincibility phases, Particularly if they don't do anything remotely interesting with it 6. Enemy Health being used as a replacement for difficulty (overpowered levels, I'm looking at you) 7. Mayhem mode

My Brother in Christ, One of the main reasons folks, me included, HATED Ava had to do with Lilith just handing over power to her. It was unearned and low level lazy writing! I'm with you on most of this video, also really late, but Ava was the worst. She also never shut the hell up. I have 4 kids who were also teenagers once, amazingly enough I let them live that long, BUT Ava was next level. Also I like your channel and format. See you in BL4!

Borderlands 3 worked great without slag, so I don't think it will return thankfully. Honestly my biggest wants are for the story to be good this time and for the game to be optimised and polished DAY ONE!

fun infinite keys glitch: if you have diamond keys still available in mail, you can disconnect from wifi while in the mail tab that contains the keys (stay offline though) and when you save/quit and reload you can unlock all your keys and save/quit quickly after then you will still have your keys in mail and can reload and repeat for infinite keys! STAY OFFLINE THO

Jakob and Hammerlock. Notice also women are dominate in the game. All the men are week and submissive to the women. A Siren is the ghost of a woman whose voice leads men to their death and are demons. Nekrotafeyo is a play on the word Necrophilia where a person has sex with the dead. Remember his wife is dead and you get the last vault key from her grave. It is associated with black magic. I can go on and on with all of the references. It would take an entire article just to list them all. If you don't understand what I'm talking about then do some research on these topics.
