New Sound and lights at the American Legion
I donated an old sound system of mine, and got them a grant for lights and acoustic treatments. It's a decent small venue now.

Every night in the brooder is the same. The Sussex birds just line up and go to bed. The Ameraucanas fuss about...and get up...and wake everyone else up...and eventually I go tell them to go to bed...and they do...for a min or two...and then is starts again. Recorded with the Brooder Cam at night.

This is typical when I leave the brooder open. They don't usually jump out, they just hang out and watch what's going on.

An immature young male chicken is called a Cockerel. Since I know which one will be the rooster, it makes sense to begin socializing him so he will be friendly.

We've added to the flock because of..well...you know...chicken math. We have some temporary residents in the brooder. A friends Ameraucana chicks came to join the flock party because they outgrew their brooder. If you remember, they started together in the first video.

I installed the new brooder plate after I let it offgass for 3 days so it wouldn't smell. It's really nice, and keeps the birds warm. I built them a roosting bar, as they should be learning to roost at night in their third week.

They say small amounts of yogurt is a good probiotic for Chickens. So they got some today. This is the last night with the small brooder plate, so I recorded the antics of them wrestling for the space they want, and taking high dives into the pile of Chicks. Some of the sounds as they go to sleep are adorable.

Dust bath that is... I added a dust bath to the new brooder. It was an almost immediate hit with Dash (purple band). She almost immediately got into it, and knew exactly what to do with it. We'll see how long it stays in there...I noticed a layer of dust in the room the brooder is in...

You know the three Dash, Dot and Blue, but there are 4 more that have been at a friends. With the new brooder done, the flock can be reunited with plenty of space. The brooder is planned for a lot more birds than I got this year, but next year I'll raise a couple dozen from my own eggs with some luck. I've raised chickens before and they are fun when they are this small. Chickens are the first thing that I'm going to get when I move to my property full-time. I already have a chicken tractor partially built.
