Conan's secret vanities have nothing to do with material wealth, but that he is indeed the uncelebrated songbird of his generation. All his existentialist dread is lain to the altar of comedy, he is deeply Catholic in that way. Genius is never appreciated in its time, and we all love his work, so where does that leave him? Quite the conundrum for a gangly up-and-comer. And so he’s left us a wealth of material.
Obviously from the comments everybody loves Conan. Not only for his show, but how generous he is, and he's still a great father. He always makes time for his kids. ❤
You should see his very first episode on NBC. Hilarious!! Nobody expects it to be good because Conan is an unknown then, but the guy who produces the show urged Conan to do it. The opener of the first show is hilarious because of that. ❤
I have a terrible memory and forgot about all the Conan/Leno drama, but re-watching this monologue now at 32 years old has brought it all back. This man is such a great entertainer.
Conan is the best late night talk show host of all time. His very first episode of late night was ridiculously meta before meta was popularized. He went out on a limb to do his style of humor when he could have easily conformed to what other hosts had done before. He was also behind some of my favorite simpsons characters and stories. Conan is an American treasure, he has contributed so much to the evolution of comedy.
The GOAT of late night TV. I've never really been one to get starstruck but going to his show when I was in America and even just seeing him and Andy from the audience seats, it felt surreal.
This is Conan at the height of his powers in my book. His whole time at NBC he was waiting and struggling to get to Tonight Show host. After NBC screwed him over, he said F U, rose from the ashes as his own man, and knocked it out of the freaking park. NBC was only holding him back.
He is rich AF but I dont find him funny.
Conan set himself up for that one😭 ion get my they get mad like if niggas don’t know these folks filthy rich.

it's the most heartwarming feeling to see him this happy. he deserves all the best in the world.
Start to finish this is a flawless monologue. The part about midnight and daylight savings time is genius - and the digs at NBC are *chef's kiss*
The ONLY issue I have here is Conan did exactly the same to his predecessor in that timeslot,George Lopez,as what Jay Leno did to Conan.
"That lasted longer than my last job" was underrated

The "demon kids" he's talking about at the beginning are actually that artist's kids 😂

My biggest regret was not watching Conan when he was still on and by the time I became a fan and was going to, his show ended
Real ones know it's "conaw"
one of the greatest f*cking monologues in late night history 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
the joke about the name of the show is actually probably true 😭
Conan loves what's happening to Mavis right now 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Damn shots fired
2:53
Never knew anything about late night shows until I started watching Lopez Tonight which introduced me to Conan, the MJ of late night
13th anniversary!
This is such a great pick-me-up video, especially if you know it’s background story.
What's with the sound
I remember my brother made me watch this live when I was 12 years old. Wasn't that familiar w Conan at the time, but he gained a new fan that day
Still a very sad situation, Conan came back but My Name Is Earl didn't. Wish TBS could have saved that too
Wait your kanye west 😂😂😂
So many references that anyone today whose 20 years old or younger wont get in that all news in one joke joke.
wwowo first onme memeber
Conan is rich on personality
😂😂😂😂😂

I love Conan, but this over the top Fallon-like intro... he's better than that.
The energy here is unreal 💙💙
That HBO joke is all to real now. 😂. Cannot wait for his new stuff.
TBS made the best buisiness move hiring conan coz he prolly made them much more known
50 cent talks to cohnan like a pimp its hilarious
Such a legend :D Too bad i couldnt watch this in Finland
50 got to the age where he still look tough but he don’t have his eyebrows no more
He looks so young
Andy's Kanye remark keeps aging like fine wine.
These talk show hosts makes a lot and I mean alot of money. Conan is worth like 200-300mil.

love conan!!!!
Remember when the biggest problem our country had was the Leno-Letterman-Conan love triangle? Happy days
I wanna put a portrait of Conan O’Brien in my House! He was the first comedy heroes I looked up to!
I love how nervous he is. He’s such a real dude.
Mom O'Brien: "I see you didn't get The Tonight Show this time." Conan: "What you gonna do, mom?" Oh, wait, that was another former NBC 12:35 host.
He began with jack white, and ended with jack black, but seth rogen was there the whole time
Conan has some of the most loyal fans. We genuinely love him so much ♥️
