I do not buy that they survived being in plasticbags for over a year. I headcanon that the post credit scene in Finding Nemo happened a year later and that they somehow got from Australia to California within 7-9 hours (which is how long a fish can survive in a plastic bag according to google). They could easily have gotten out of the bags if they wanted to with the help of Bloat or Nigel, but they chose not to because they were too afraid to be out in the open after a long time in a tank. So they went to California to live within a larger tank that was big enough for them to feel free, yet small enough for them to feel safe. Like if you got convinced by my theory, and comment if you disagree or have an idea on how they traveled 7500 miles in bags within 7-9 hours.

I love how this is based on a study where they found that smoking as a teen only slowed lung growth rate by a meager rate of 0.2% a year, which is practically nothing. But they just decided, "Yeah, who needs citations? Just cherry-pick an run like mofo."
