Laiv is slow, darker sounding, not good for faster music at all. one of the biggest disapointmens from R2R dacs, gustard R26 is much better

personaly i dont tested Rose, But Eversolo is very mediocre, but friend had Rose, says also very dead sounding..

I also used slow filter, as fast was too harsh.(power on time was about 60hours ,so its breaked in) Regarding amp - yes 2a3 tube amplifier is on the the way to me. maybe next week will be sound samples. my friend today also tested this A10, also said its unlistenable and very bad , later he tried with PP tube amp and said its better with tube amp.but everybodys hearing is diferent, room acoustics also impact sound. speakers are custom built by me,crossovers made also by me...

@@vismantass REALLY? You built those and the crossovers? They are beautiful and it looks like you have the space to let them breath. I believe I will have to relegate the A-10 as a streamer only feeding it to my R2R DAC, should have stayed with the A-8, I think they should have stayed with the AKM chips, never was a fan of Sabre ESS chips or Delta Sigma for that matter. Eversolo should just produce a Streamer Transport only!

The speakers look great. I’ve built 5 pairs of speakers over the years. Did you design your cabinets and horn? What drivers did you use and what frequency is the crossover? A few years back, I made some speakers out of cheese boxes. The drivers are faced downward. I wanted them to fit into my rustic home. The sound stage is not in your face, but they sound better as you increase the volume.

@@jamesdellaneve9005 its Peavey FH1 bass bin with JBL 2226G driver , Custom tractrix horn from wood with JBL2440, tweeters Fostex T500mk2 . Crossover is 550hz,8.5khz. And yesm horns like bigger volume and bigger room, sadly i must listen at 0.2 - 0.4 watt :D

incoming 2A3 amplifier "sun audio" clone, in few weeks will record sound, with comments regarding how it sounds ;) i have AN el84 PP, but somehow its too agresive for me, but tube amps for jazz and classical is insane with my horns ;)

it is good, very neutral, has good bass. a little too dry highs for my taste. typycal accuphase sound. Does everything right, but not very interesting to listen... lacks "charisma" i would say

VICTOR is most realistic, but lack "echooes" not "wet"souinding, sony is more relaxed more like hugo TT. after longer listening i prefer sony to all these dac.. sadly sony is not mine;)

@@vismantass yeah from what i could heard trough this record i also felt that sony was more relaxing but the Victor more dynamic & agile make it more complete also felt it come out as the most realistic as you say, but otherwise Sony & victor seems to have some sort of the same type of musically playground, i really like comparisions like you did here :-) & it all sums down to implementation & match to the rest of the system, i have myselt some experience with both Sony & Victor i have had Sony xa-7es & scd 777, for Victor i have only been trough 2 pair of speakers with Alnico magnets, the sx 500 de stand mount, & now the Victor sx v7-m 3 ways with all Alnico & hemp midrange dome, now im try to sort out a system i hopefully can live with for a while, i ended up with an Abbas set nos dac kit where i have hardwired the output stage based on 6sn7 tubes & Tamura chokes & power trans with Kenwood L-d1 cdp as transport pre amp will be an tube preamp also diy based on Tango np-8 output trans & solid external power supply, & the mono amps im waiting will be Kubota diy 0db gain zero nfb transistor based ones so im exited to where the audio journey will goes :-) 🎶 all i know is that Diy is the way these days with the price of new stuffs to acheive what yourself is searching for , keep up the good Diy spirit musical regards Ivan :-)

chord hugo tt is the best, all other chords are too sterile and trash.dave included... to be very picky, chord has bad midb bass, with no countours , its bloaty and muddy compared to R2R dacs. but chord has best highs in market.. for me i will go to R2R dac some day, as piano is more realistic, chord makes only pretty sounds, but far far from realistic sound.

peavey is flat from 100 to 350hz, lowest note is 64 hz, for clasical ,acousticl and jazz its Ok,. but for other music i recomending adding subwoofer. i now using JBL 2226G inside bass cabinet.

@@greggb681 volume was about the same, denon just faster, clearer, more musical

and it cost 100 euros;) but need cap replacement as all dead. overall superb amplifier for price, also input must be not cd, but processor in, much better shorter sound path

@@george1la thanks, yes midrange horns are german made.

they are identical. but sound is a little diferent. T2 has better controled sharper bass. T10 is more like tube amp, wet and softer bass .mids and highs are very close.t2 better for clasical music, t10 for vocals. diference is electrolytic caps maker is diferent.

ECI2 was from my friend. i personaly did not liked the sound. it has some synthetic coloration, audible as soft "tubey" sound . but it has some "magic" in sound... some may like it. weakness was it is "slow" sounding. not good for classic, but very good for vocals ,and chillout music

I had in my home alot of amps and almost all failed to impress, strangely one name i remember that impresed me in classical genre was plinius hiato. And tube was willsenton r8, nice sound for price.

@@williammeincke9071 i like 45 and 2a3 tube amps, 300b are too slow for me also PP is good for classical music , but solid state always have better bass control, so no winner here:(

yes, its tragedy, sound is mufled, no dynamics left. tried at liest 3 trafos, all were bad, this option is only good for very bright speakers, and cheap shouty horns . Trafos only positive is they have somewhat darker/black backround,but its noticeble only by golden ears :) good capacitor is always better if you like lively presentation of amp.

@@vismantass that is strange every discreption of interstage i have heard was the opposite. Did you use a real interstage with a 1:1 winding ratio.

@@williammeincke9071 i was told it is good, but my test showed oposite. so im just sharing my experience. jupiter copper cap is much more open and faster sounding than any exotic trafo.

i think every audiophile must choose drivers, components by itself. but in private i can always advice what resistors ,capacitors or coils to use and what to not use - like active crossover :D , or some expensive caps what kill music for example

@@ashleywatson5101 it depends on horn size, type, ... on mids i use 20uf and 1.5mh., bass you must adjust acordingly to cross corectly.

@@ashleywatson5101 all 3 drivers are now 2nd order ,540 hz and 9khz .bigest problem is midrange, horn tries to play low, even after steep cutoff,so solution was small inductor, to try cut higher a little bit, becouse big horns trying to amplify low hz, but i dont want that. but problem was finaly solved :)

about 150 liters , but i prefer bass horn ...

crossover is made by me, and i have 3 versions of it,. all play diferently, so its individual choice. box is PEAVEY FH-1 with jbl 2226G inside

its Peavey FH-1 enclosure, plans you can find on web and forums, dont expect bass lower than 70 hz. for pop music its not good, needs subwoofer help. for jazz, classical ,acoustics, its perfectly fine without sub
