The amount of foreign players now is a joke .if you get a half decent English player their price goes up millions while you can get a foreign player for peanuts. It has to change , what chance do young kids have now zero chance .every club should be made to have at least 6 homegrown players in first 11

What do we do as a nation...?"...aintt he "nation" problem. Sadly this is the reality of life. People fail, dont get to the top but thats like with many careers. Like lawyers, drs etc who pay large sum etc and fail. No safety net. Ideally the parents should plan ahead for their child. Thankfully fir them the kids are young and have time ti regroup and learn a career. They are only 1--18. Plenty of time to seek a new career.

It's life. You go through it, you take the good with the bad and you keep going. Some things will affect some people more than others, obviously, but that's just how it is. There's far too much importance given to football as it's so popular.

I had a trial for a Non League club in the 8th tier of English football when I was 17 and I didnt make the grade. Thats why I try and refrain from criticising Manchester United players as I wasnt even good enough for the Isthmian League.

Sorry but that's just the harsh reality of life. If you fail your Exams you retake them or end up in an average job. When it comes to sport, if you ain't good enough, get better or move on. Same as playing in bands, you're not all gonna break the charts, you might only get a one album deal. That's life. I wanted to be a GK at school but I was too small. Everyone is built for something. If it's not for you it's not for you.

Being a small keeper for presumably a local junior side and accepting you are not going to make it isn’t the same as being in an academy for your childhood and then being rejected. The landing isn’t as hard is what I mean, as you’ve never tasted what they have and you’ve not put in the same time and effort over the years. I agree though - it’s life, most of us don’t get to live our dream and we have to settle to a lesser or greater extent. But surely nothing wrong with football putting some safeguards in place, schemes in place to soften the blow for them - especially given how much money football generates. That’s up to football clubs tho - should never be legislated by governments, because then as you say it’s ignoring everyone else who had different dreams to football but dreams nonetheless and then have to give them up.

@mattwinstanley2544 It's not like their getting fired from a contract 😭😂. There's no guarantee until they actually sign for the club at 16 and take a wage. According to Garry Neville, 16 was the make or break point. Again, it's like they're dumped into the big bad world, most of them walk straight into another academy if they wanted. If you've lasted 10 years at City I'm pretty sure there's youth teams that would give you a chance.

@golfguru0962 Yes but Owan wasn't a Goal Keeper 😂. The single biggest physical attribute a GK needs is height and generally being the biggest man in the box. Like I said, I was too small to cover the sticks.

@@StoutPropersome will but the option is there, we encourage it as it means they have something to fall back on. They still have their own free time outside of that to develop in football. Theres a high percentage of kids that won’t make it professionally so this is a good option for them. They get to pick the course so some will go into football but just in a different way maybe media, coach or whatever they choose.

A percentage of the players wages should be used to re skill and help with a new career and maybe people to talk to..from the age of 6 or 7 for.the nxt 10 years dreaming of making it then not..they need to k ow of other avenues into football, coaching and other aspects..even playing abroad

Brilliant man. The West's colonial, individualistic, competitive culture is destroying families, communities, nations, the world. It is a sick, deeply selfish mindset to embrace, and it has been promoted endlessly from cradle to grave, and is being spread across the world. Our school system's purpose is to turn us into mindless worker bees to serve the corporate world, and to "serve the country" by running off to die or get maimed when the country decides to go out and "spread democracy" (destroy people to take their resources). That is what colonialist governments want, mindless people who see their worth not in how they treat their fellow human, but in how much they "achieve", how much they "win". And the citizens have fallen for it, hook, line and sinker.
