    I've been decluttering my home for 8 years after moving from a 3 bedroom house, with basement and garage, to a small apartment. I have also been decluttering my late parents' home for 3 years. I grew up in a home where we "saved" things in case we needed them. It is very hard to overcome that mentality. I love the Kon Mari method. I do a little at a time, and I have been able to sell the majority of my things. The progress I have made in both homes is slow but amazing. Thanks for the advice and hard truths.

      @HomeSavvyCentral KM is great for purging a lot of items fast, but when you get stuck in a category you grind to a halt. I have had to restart the process a few times, because more stuff keeps coming into my home. I also like the boxes method as well. It's good try different things.

    After two major declutters,(one involuntary, housefire's do that to you) 30 yrs apart I have learned a hard for some lesson. #1 reason for clutter? You have empty space and it feels empty so you put something there. "I have room for that" is the first excuse you give yourself. This time? No more clutter as my new house is very small. Not a tiny house, but 1400 sq ft and I designed it that way. We calculated exactly how much room we'd need to the inch and nothing comes in unless something goes out. Don't buy a huge house, buy just what you need and no more.

    I have been a licensed insurance agent in CT for 42 years. What this video is missing is that many companies are re-inspecting every house they insure. Some with interior inspections added looking for problematic electrical issues, undisclosed dogs, knob and tube wiring... It is way easier to sell a policy to a customer than it is to sell the idea of insuring the house to a company!!

Tarrifs are used to keep other countries in check, when Mexico refused to protect the border, it was the tariffs that put them in line. It was tarrifs that brought in billions of dollars from China that were used to help our farmers and we didn't have meat shortages and sky high beef prices like we have now. We need to bring back our steel, auto and oil industries ETC back to the USA and stop outsourcing the very industries that made America wealthy in the first place and we need American laborers NOT ILLEGAL ALIENS. Everything Biden has done in the last 4 years have almost completely crippled the country and we have 3 new wars that have now escalated under his lack of leadership...Under Biden we have had record inflation, high gas and energy prices, record high groceries and the price of meat...       @HomeSavvyCentral probably starting around May. It will start slowly. It may start a little sooner, depending on any policy changes (IMHO)

    I disagree with almost everything you say. Yes all the costs are rising but renters are not immune to these costs. Landlords incurred all these same expenses and passed them on to the tenants plus their profit margin . Rent or buy you pay for all the same costs you ether pay them yourself or through rent that increases as costs rise. Also there is no evidence that’s storms are more intense or more frequent what is true is that we have built many many more homes and more expensive homes directly in the path of these storms that have always hit the coastal states.

    forget about insurance and mortgage, just maintenance and landscaping is pretty expensive. When I bought my house, the home inspector told me, to expect spend 5% of the value of the house each year on necessary improvments. He was probably right - I just spent $30,000 on a new roof, I spend about $3,000 a year just to take down trees that become hazardous, I spent $15,000 for a sewer hook-up, $15,000 for a new heating furnace, I don't even have central air, that would cost $$$$. I probably need a new walkway, asphalt driveway, and deck just to name a few. Those are just capital improvements - not including things like painting, landscaping, etc. Had to rebuild my picket fence, the old wood rotted, did all the work myself, probably a $5,000 job min.

      Dang that are a lot of expensed you made. Yes maintenance and updates costs are skyrocketing as well as the goods prices go up and labor prices go up. And you are right. maintenance expenses range from 3-6% of your purchase price. Appreciate your feedback.

    "All these natural disasters have made the insurance companies almost broke". Say what? The State Farm CEO gets a salary of over 2 million per year but also receives a bonus of over 20 million per year! If that insurer is "going broke" then why do they think their CEO is doing such a great job that he should get a "bonus" of ten times his annual salary? If that insurer is "going broke" then why aren't they cutting the CEO salary instead of increasing it by 14%? If your home insurer rates go up, one of the reasons has nothing to do with hurricanes but is caused by the CEO being paid 2 million dollars PER MONTH! And, that is just the CEO. There are a lot of other "top managers" as well!

      @@HomeSavvyCentral It's just a way for the government to try and tax us even more than they already do. The earth has been in a constant state of change for the last billion years. What do people not understand about this. It's how the earth was formed to begin with. Volcanos erupt. Makes more land, There are ice ages that happen. But these days it is Weather weapons happening to us all. They have stated it. Who controls the weather will control the world. HAARP, LEARN.
