Is that what Dreadnoughts are feeding their troops these days? Joking, but yeah it's pretty good. This game I stacked Goblins' inherent -10% cost, Warlord's Training Regimen and Shadowborn specs for (I believe) a 35% cost reduction across all troops.

@@HasteBerryPie hah yeah, i've played dwarven dreadnought last time. I've got sick of how much gold and production i needed to produce anything. Although golem rush in 20th turn was worth it. Taking enemy capitol payed off. :D

@@Zyragonn I prefer to turtle on Dreadnought in the auto-combat format, but if you're gonna rush, that's definitely the way to do it. I know in manual you can use drones and engineers to blow up the wall, but that doesn't work in auto-combat.

@@HasteBerryPie wow, really? I didn't know that. About turtle, I try this every time, but it's always hard when there is some sort of body of water and I can't swim across. And enemy have most of the times some flying riders ready to take out my less defenced city. But overall, turtle is the way to go.

@@Zyragonn Oh yeah, it's cheesy though because enemy can pop your drones/engineers before they get close. But like you said, golem is a solid bet. Turtling makes sense to me because musketeers have a staggering shot, so essentially what you have are tanky, high-dmg archers applying slows to nearly anything approaching the wall. Combined with other stuff like pikes (per your scenario), this should make it fairly difficult to take out a Dreadnought once they get established. It's all theory, though. That's why I promote auto-combat PBEM, to grind out tons of games and see what's possible. I think to this day the game is largely unsolved.

I had to look up what you're talking about lol. Somehow I never got around to watching that show. But yes, exactly like he says it!

I've vowed not to watch beyond Season 1 - because of how the show got completely trashed - but the books and games are definitely on my list. Some time...

I actually feel like AoW4 is a downgrade in some ways, but I wouldn't mind trying it out if I had a more powerful computer. Thanks for your comment.

What do you like more about it? I was hyped for 4, but it seems like they went overboard with customization, to the point where nothing feels unique anymore. I also feel like sectors are weird and freedom-limiting, but I could be wrong. I'm not adverse to trying 4 and Planetfall, but unfortunately my computer isn't powerful enough.

I guess this world is doomed to Orc theocracy lol.

To be honest, my computer isn't very powerful and it struggles with the newer titles. I'm not exactly adverse to playing them, although from what I've seen AoW4 has a certain blandness about it in terms of aesthetic and a few design choices. I'm also a bit skeptical of sectors. But I do listen to some of the music from both games. But I really enjoy the art style and open-ended feeling of AoW3.

You're not exactly wrong lol. What I'm doing is trying to get the best start possible - not losing too many units, using movement points efficiently, and thinking ahead. The game is unforgiving in that once you make your move, there's no going back.
