Hello, on a SOLIDserver, you can activate query logs and forward these to a ELK (or any log analysis tool) through syslog. Care if you have a lot of DNS traffic since it requires a powerful log parsing tool. Format of the logs is standard to ISC bind one, so plugins already available.

Issues and vulnerabilities are published frequently on most systems, including DNS. This year (2020) has already been very rich in such disclosures and therefore patching is required quite often. You can decide to patch or not, it is always a balance between impact and likelihood of occurrence. Such zero-day attacks exist today. Intelligent malwares with downloadable payload are able to quickly change their goal from a DDOS attack to target a recently disclosed vulnerability. It was true 4 years ago and is still valid today.

It took time, but you also have to realize, good info is only meant for the very few. And you are correct, it is a good one. This was the first video that came up when I searched for cnc server and as I am studying for my 2nd CCIE in security, I wanted a little more basic info on CNC then my current course gave.
