Depending on your level, I guess since u just want to awaken them, ur level should be between p6 to p8, glory as stunt advantage for this level and that is gud for mage, also poison is also gud because it as no resistance, player can gain stunt resistance as their level progress.

If u are rune mage yes it will be easy for u to switch to magus because they both have dark runes but I will advice you to stick to rune mage because magus is not as strong as rune mage, instead go for berserker if you want to try new character.
