Westinghouse “Stamped Steel” Antique Desk Fan - Centrifugal Start Switch
I’ve done a few blades on the Dubro as well. Although most of the fans that I’ve worked on are the overlapping blade Emerson‘s or signal cool spot fans. What I have done when the blades are painted is used clearcoat on the lighter side of the blade to bring the weight into tolerance.
Good idea
Does that blow much air?
It moves air in all directions, cooling, but not in a focussed blast like a typical desk fan that would blow papers onto the floor.
how did you fix her, i have one & i need to make her hula, i can hear motor running but hips dont move
Take a good look at the mechanism and fix whatever broke

very safe
Very nice, and a great restoration! This fan makes me wonder why R&M bought Hunter. From the looks of this one and how smoothly it runs, I get the sense that R&M's ceiling fans were every bit as good. I have four Hunter Originals, the oldest dating to 1979 when the nameplate still read "Hunter Division - Robbins & Myers, Inc." I remember seeing that nameplate when I was a kid in the '60s, so I was very happy to have one of my own.
I have two (well... 3) century fans i just got in to antique fans and luckily i got these first. Two of mine have Nonferrus (tungsten?) Steel housing and the two ive restored run the best ive seen ANY fan run. Just a beautiful interesting design.
I have a couple kb controllers... didnt want to take a chance kiiling an antique motor with one, but ive thought about it. It should work with any induction run motor tli think.thanks for the upload.
Wow that cranks.
I might be speaking from ignorance but, that seems like a bad idea to me
I like that color
Sound of summer. I was so annoyed when my parents got central air conditioning and I had to retire this puppy (it was my grandmother's)
I like how it kinda feels time period correct
These are pretty interesting. I'm thinking of building one from scratch.
Nice Nazi fan😂
Nice!

Those are beautiful fans. A friend of mine has a couple that I hope to get my hands on to video.
Sweet!
where can i get one ?
I sell them. Or, check eBay “antique heater” Info@ChestertownElectric.com
Beautiful install!
Interesting how the winding wire, and the coil wire are connected together with a nut.
I did that to bypass the switch so it would run.

Thanks for sharing! I'm about to do the same to replace the heat exchanger on my 360 as well. Any tips to removing the intake plenum you can offer? Or it is pretty straight forward for someone who has wrenched on cars for a while? Thanks in advance!
No big issues.
Absolutely beautiful, incredible use of bulbs at the turn of the century.
We should bring back these old lamps, modern lights are dead aesthetically just white and bright... 😢
robbins and myers is hunter branded ceiling fan.
R&M began making ceiling fans in the 1890’s. Hunter also began making ceiling fans in the late 1890’s. In 1949, R&M acquired Hunter. This ceiling fan was produced by R&M before they bought Hunter.
@@chestertownelectric6290 that is a fact indeed
Sadly Jan died a few months ago. He did nice work.
That blue on chrome really makes it pop!❤
Is it possible to slow down the oscillation speed without changing the fan speed?
The oscillation is geared from the motor, so the number of oscillations per minute is tied to the number of blade revolutions per minute. However, you can adjust how far right/left it oscillates, from about 90-degrees down to 0-degrees (no oscillation). So, if you set it to oscillate less degrees, it will oscillate slower.
Hey there! I know it's been over a year since you posted this video, but I thought that you'd at least like some closure to this case. Seems to me that the player mechanism needs to be restored. Since some notes are playing, that would indicate that the vacuum is getting to the stack so it is probably a combination of many leaks and the old cloth and leather having deteriorated over the years. At first, I thought maybe the switch that gives suction to the stack might have been broken since I didn't see any of the keys moving, but once a few did, I'm pretty sure the issue is simply that it is just really old and needs some love. After looking over the footage again several times, I'm now noticing that it might have been you playing the keyboard and not the scroll triggering the keys to play. Over all, your best bet would be to look into getting a professional restoration done on the internal player mechanism of this piano. The price isn't cheap, so I'd only do it if this piano is really important to you and/or your family. From someone who restores these machines, I wish you the best of luck!

Looking for parts, just got one in pretty bad shape
I think longnose irons will fit, are much more common, but are a different length or angle?
where is this at?
So Emerson just named their Northwind ceiling fan after these
Yes. Northwind was their budget product line. In the early 1900’s, their budget line was “Trojan”
Hi Chestertown Electric! A good day to you sir. I am Joseph and I have just acquired a non-working repainted R&M 8" fan locally. Would you please help me know how to remove the fan blade since I'm having a hard time removing it myself. Thanks and more power.
There should be a small setscrew on the blade hub, near the axle. Remove it. Then, hold the blade in your hand, place a punch against the end of the axle, and strike the punch with a hammer to push the axle out of the blade.
where is this at?
I don’t know. I sold it 4 years ago. It is a very common fan and easy to find, mainly because they work great and never fail.
Beautiful
Snuck a phone back to the 1920's lol Cool bit of history you're flying on!
I love those old push buttons switches. I have replica push buttons switches but the true antiques have that awesome feel and sound
I have found that all old push button switches have high resistance and need their contacts cleaned to be safe. But, they bring back memories of my grandparents’ house. Their mechanism is very similar to the older rotary snap switches, but turned on their side.
@@chestertownelectric6290 I’ve seen the older snap switches and antique ceiling fans. I just wish antique ceiling fans would not be so expensive.
@@chestertownelectric6290why does resistance make them unsafe? I was gonna install these vintage ones to my house
Wow what an awesome fan,i have a 1930s GEC fan currently uploading an update on the fan,ive been wanting to restore it spray paint it and so on,but ive decided to leave it as is,just going to take out some of the little rust its got for its age,its 93 years old,so i believe it is in good condition for its age,i think if an old fan is not heavy coated in rust its better to keep it original and just take out the rust, the stuff im using on my old fans does not touch the paint,it only takes the rust out, your fan is in great condition for its age to,better not to spray paint it.
Maguires Cleaner Wax is great.
@Chestertown Electric Thanks i will look into that,i live in SA,i hope they sell that around here
Wow lots of cool stuff there!!
Very cool!!!
Very cute! I believe it's the kind of fan that could have been installed in elevators too.
that fan has seen it all
Really nice
The way you say motor has always made me chuckle. "Mewtor". Nothing wrong with it.
Nice video man, looks like a sick place to ride and practice!
Nice!!
