Absolutely, you can use a 4 weight yarn. While I usually enjoy working with cotton and smaller hooks, this stitch will look beautiful with larger yarn and a bigger hook too! Thanks for your kind comment! 🥰

That sounds like an amazing project! 😊 For a standard cardigan, the number of granny squares you’ll need will depend on your size and the fit you’re going for. What are the dimensions of your strips? I know the length is 15cm but what about the width? Mine looks much wider than yours

The center- 1dc-1tr-1dc??? Where is the center which stitch???
The stitch in the center is the treble (between the dc's from the previous round). I hope this answer your question. Don't hesitate to ask me, if you need more help.
This is a super cute idea, however, I struggled a lot with this tutorial. Yarn and hook are too small I can't see clearly amd the directions aren't clear at times either. I am not a beginner, I have been crocheting for over 10 years and I struggled with this pattern which says a lot since I now mostly crochet plushies. After 2 hours and lots of frogging I finally was able to work this up to round 2 of doing the square, once again I couldn't see and the directions where unhelpful. I even zoomed in to try and see things and that didn't help any at all, it's midnight now and I got so frustrated I had to put my yarn down. Unsure at this point if I will frog it and find something else to do with the yarn, very disappointed as I had some plans for a paw print granny squares and I should have been able to work this up in less than 2 hours.☹️

I donno if this will help but u can slow the playback speed down. That's how I did it. Up in the top rite. I'm using a ph tho.
