Weekly Sermons preached at Crossing Community Church. The Be in Christ Church in Kirkland Lake, ON.
Kings of Israel & Judah: Hezekiah
Hezekiah trusts God at a time when the stakes are huge. Facing the destruction of his people by the Assyrian Army, he hangs on to faith that God will deliver the people. We learn two lessons from this: First, that life is more than just our economic or material well-being. And secondly, God may want us to become weak so that his power can be clearly seen through us.

Jehoshaphat
Просмотров 6День назад
Jehoshaphat is a righteous king whose reign is upended by an ill-considered alliance with the wicked Israelite king Ahab. His story reminds us of the importance of partnering with people who have compatible core values, or we may find ourselves pressured to compromise at the most important places in our lives.
Ahab
Просмотров 714 дней назад
The interaction between Ahab and Naboth shows the misunderstanding that happens between people pursuing God's vision of a good life and people who pursue a vision of the good life that based in cultural assumptions. The church is called to devote itself to an alternative vision of the good life, so we will likewise be misunderstood when we are obedient to Jesus' commands.
Jeroboam Kings of Israel & Judah
Просмотров 828 дней назад
Jeroboam has an iron-clad promise from God that he will be blessed if he obeys, but because he can't imagine how God will keep his promise, he goes his own way with disastrous consequences for both his family and nation. Like Jeroboam, we also have promises from God. Do we choose to believe them, or do we, like Jeroboam, go our own ways and forsake God's promises.
The Exalted Son
Просмотров 15Месяц назад
Jesus' humiliation leads to his eventual exaltation. This week we look at how the Apostles' Creed talks about Jesus' resurrection, ascension and his judgment.
Saul (Kings of Israel & Judah)
Просмотров 8Месяц назад
Saul, the first king of Judah, is overwhelmed by his duties. But instead of his uncertainty leading him to trust God more, it leads him to a toxic form of insecurity that destroys his reign. He serves as a cautionary tale for believers about the importance of faith in God when things are difficult.
The Life of the Spirit
Просмотров 21Месяц назад
The final section of the Apostles' Creed is about the Holy Spirit and the work it does in the lives of those who believe, calling them into a community, forgiving their sins, raising them to new life and inviting them into the life of God.
The Suffering Son
Просмотров 24Месяц назад
In this sermon we look at the first half of the second article of the Apostles' Creed: The passages about the suffering of Jesus. The Son is God's message about himself to the world, and it is a very different message about God than we might suppose.
Using Wisdom Well
Просмотров 152 месяца назад
When Solomon succeeds his father David as king of Israel, God gives him every advantage he needs to succeed Wisdom, Wealth and Fame. Despite his great wisdom, however, Solomon's life is derailed by his pursuit of money, sex and power. His legacy is the division of Israel and the process that leads to Israel's and Judah's eventual exile. In the same way, we are also given every advantage we need...
Studying the Scriptures
Просмотров 152 месяца назад
Reading the Scriptures is a slog for many Christians. This week, we look at some of the blockages that keep us from reading our Bibles. We look at what different translations do and we look at some resources and approaches to help us have a fruitful Bible reading experience.
A New Kind of Leader
Просмотров 103 месяца назад
We're all familiar with leaders who use their authority to their own advantage. We may feel that's just how leaders always operate, but Jeremiah promises us that God will send a different kind of leader. This promise is fulfilled in Jesus who leads through humble service. Jesus calls us to follow him using humble service too. Every time we do what others need from a place of love, we are reigni...
A Renewed Mind

HIstory is littered with examples of people who did terrible things in God's name. This is because we perceive God through cultural lenses that distort our understanding of what his will is. We see this tragically in the story of Jephthah who offers his daughter as a sacrifice in payment for a military victory. He is so poisoned by Canaanite culture that he doesn't understand God wouldn't accep...
Raising the Dead
Просмотров 134 месяца назад
In Jesus' miraculous raising of Lazarus, we see how Jesus enters into our suffering, how Jesus has authority over death (both literal and figurative) and how a new life will inevitably cause hostility with people living the old sort of life.
A Miraculous Mulligan
Просмотров 84 месяца назад
A Mulligan is a do-over in golf. Many times in life, we feel like we could use a Mulligan, but in Mark chapter 8, when it appears that Jesus needs one in a miracle seemingly gone wrong, we might be concerned. In this sermon, we examine how this isn't an instance of Jesus needing two tries to get something right but a commentary on how God's transforming and liberating work is often a process ra...

🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🌏Isaiah 53 Kim Walker Matthew 1:18-24 Rooftops Fearless Song of Solomon
Even with forgiveness, David still deserves to be severely punished for his crimes once he enters the afterlife. The fact that Bathsheba and Uriah’s lives were utterly RUINED by that monster who’s *”after God’s heart”* is purely detestable. Anything less than severe punishment on David’s end is a great injustice. God has to PROPERLY make this right. That being, Uriah and Bathsheba reuniting in heaven, marrying each other forever, and having a child with Uriah’s and Bathsheba’s blood. All of this while severely punishing King David for his crimes even further in the afterlife.
This has been a blessing!
Colossians 1 About Jesus: For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: 17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. 19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell; 20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven. 1 John 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not burdensome. Rev 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. THE TEN COMMANDMENTS…. 1- THOU SHALT HAVE NO OTHER GODS BEFORE ME 2- THOU SHALT NOT MAKE UNTO THEE ANY GRAVEN IMAGE 3- THOU SHALT NOT TAKE THE NAME OF THY GOD IN VAIN 4- REMEMBER THE SABBATH DAY TO KEEP IT HOLY 5- HONOUR THY FATHER AND THY MOTHER 6- THOU SHALT NOT KILL 7- THOU SHALT NOT COMMIT ADULTERY 8- THOU SHALT NOT STEAL 9- THOU SHALT NOT BEAR FALSE WITNESS AGAINST THY NEIGHBOURS 10- THOU SHALT NOT COVET Matthew 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Hebrews10:26-31- For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God!!.. These few verses unmask deception and reveal idolatry: The idols of the nations are silver and gold, the works of human hands. They have mouths, but do not speak; they have eyes, but do not see; they have ears, but do not hear, nor is there any breath in their mouths. Those who make them become like them. SO DO ALL WHO TRUST IN THEM. Psalm 135:15-18 Deuteronomy 4:16 that you do not act corruptly and make an idol for yourselves of any form or shape, whether in the likeness of a male or female, Jeremiah 7:18-19 KJV The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the ¨queen of heaven¨, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger. Do they provoke me to anger? saith the LORD: do they not provoke themselves to the confusion of their own faces? Mary and saint worship, Mary the mediatrix and queen of heaven? God cleary told us Jesus is the ONLY mediator between God and mankind. Whoever else you use as mediator or pray to is IDOLATRY. 1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus. Saints dont intermediate and dont listen to prayers, they are dead people like you and me, made of flesh and they died, Mary also is one of them, she was a normal woman who gave birth to Jesus and she and other people may not be worshipped. God declared the dead as the following: Ecclesiastes 9:5-6 For the living know they will die; but the dead do not know anything, nor have they any longer a reward, for their memory is forgotten. 6Indeed their love, their hate and their zeal have already perished, and they will no longer have a share in all that is done under the sun. If the dead are alive somewhere... then who are the ones Christ will resurrect at his arrival? *Second commandment (Ex 20:4): Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, ...* this includes rosary necklaces, Mary and saint statues, Jesus, Mary and saint images, crosses, 'holy relics' and many more items used in worship by most denominations. People bow down before these things, kiss them, pray with them and that is wrong. Christ is the mediator we pray towards, close the door and pray to him honestly without any items or images, he is the living God and does not share his glory with manmade things. It is time to return to the old Hebraic faith of Jesus (Yeshua) and do what he did (obey the Fathers commandments and laws). There was no Catholic church or hundreds of denominations each with their own views and opinions back in the days of Jesus and the prophets. Believers had the old testament back then, which is the foundation of all scripture and the key to understand the new testament. Most Cathechism practices like rosary prayers etc are just invented in the 16th century.. first pope existed in 538ad and not in the apostles their days. those things got nothing to do with Jesus, its the traditions and vanities of religious men who went far astray from the Fathers commands. Matt 7:22 Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ 23Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you workers of lawlessness!’… Berean Standard Bible Only those who obey Gods commandments will enter the kingdom, there is a large familiar group of people who think they please Jesus but obviously they will be rejected by Him because they denied the commandments. Many teachings and videos are available on our fb page lessons from Jesus
I have study the Bible for a very long time, no offense but to the narrators of the Bible, I have also attended my churchs... and with our attacking any one.are exposing religion secret or the churchs timelines of these scholars, Because the Lord said his word shall be preached all over the world.. Go to the Hebrew Bible concordance: the LORD= the Eternal, the self-existence, or self-existing one. In Strong’s Concordance it is H#3068. When I see the word LORD, I most of the time just say ”the Eternal”. It helps with reference.

Check your audio you sound live you underwater and the volume is really low
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We have found that PCs running windows 11 can have a system setting to turn stereo settings into mono. If this is checked, there seems to be some phase cancellation that garbled the sound. You could try turning that off (System > Sound > Mono Audio). When we tried it on most Android devices or Apple devices, we didn't have the problem. Hope that helps.
OK, thank you
These are just the birthing pains of these the climate change end times due to eclipsing our stars magnetic equator 7 times in one rotation of the galactic bulge. 5 loaves crossings complete with 2 apocalyptic crossings to go until perigee with the galactic bulge. With 12,000 baskets/years/orbits between 1,000 year crossings. Jesus even told us about the GALACTIC Milankovitch cycles the cause of our epoch level climate trends as well as precession climate cataclysms. This crossing will be worst than the last because we are closer to perigee with the galactic bulge.
Silly man ... Jesus is God.
You don’t know his Father bud? In heaven right now two are on the thrown right?
@@brotherebenezer449 You don't believe in the Holy Trinity? Christians believe in the Holy Trinity. John 10:30-38 English Standard Version 30 I and the Father are one.” 31 The Jews picked up stones again to stone him. 32 Jesus answered them, “I have shown you many good works from the Father; for which of them are you going to stone me?” 33 The Jews answered him, “It is not for a good work that we are going to stone you but for blasphemy, because you, being a man, make yourself God.” 34 Jesus answered them, “Is it not written in your Law, ‘I said, you are gods’? 35 If he called them gods to whom the word of God came-and Scripture cannot be broken- 36 do you say of him whom the Father consecrated and sent into the world, ‘You are blaspheming,’ because I said, ‘I am the Son of God’? 37 If I am not doing the works of my Father, then do not believe me; 38 but if I do them, even though you do not believe me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me and I am in the Father.”
My God is Yehovah
@@brotherebenezer449 You're Jewish?
This is sooo convoluted. Hebrew ahyeh (meaning I will be) is not the name YHWH Greek ego eimi (meaning I am) is not ahyeh (meaning I will be)
Yehoshua is not Yehovah God and is not ho-on or eyeh asher eyeh as that word Is I will be
Funny I discovered his name through intersessission and mindful prayer. And hear you are on video explaining his name EIMI. weird, also google translate, translates EIMI to distilled from Icelandic to english. Interesting since in greek it means I AM
Jesus was a distillation of YHWH. That’s a pretty awesome connection. 🤔
Don’t bother. He had nothing to do with it.
So if Ego eimi is a title for God or a name why does the blind man in John 9:9 use the exact word there?????? . So is the I am not the same when used by a blind man but when Jesus says it . The clouds part and light shine on him???? And if it's a name then when Jesus says before Abraham was God??? Or if the I Am denote eternally then why even say before Abraham was. Jesus would had answered. Jews :You are not 50 how could you seen Abraham Jesus: I Am But he doesn't. Maybe you need to look a little deeper and see what the Hebrew word actually is and the Greek. This is the most misquoted and theological biased verse ever. God doesn't even say his name in 14 he says it in 15. The divine name .
?
Well this comment is super old but I did look into what you were saying about john 9:9. I'm pretty sure it was common to use the word ego eimi to say I am. The blind man was just answering a question because they were asking if he was the one who sat and begged just the verse before. I think the context of the I am matters the most. When jesus said in 8:56 he is saying he knows Abraham even though he is not yet 50 years old and is claiming to be the eternal god that talked to Abraham in genesis. Then he says before Abraham I am then that's the final straw for the jews that he is claiming to be god. Hope that helps somewhat and let me know if you don't agree or understand what ego eimi saying xD
@TheMan-tr9bm did you know the same form of "eimi" was used by Jesus at John14:9.. There he uses it in the "have been" context.. Jesus saith unto him, Have I been (eimi) so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father? Could it be the translators chose to use "I am" in joh8:58 to follow the preconceived narrative of Jesus being the Almighty God? It could also be translated as “Most truly I say to you, before Abraham came into existence, I have been.” Which makes far more sense grammatically and is in harmony with scripture. Jesus was made by his God and father. King James Version 2cor1:3 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;

The top of my head is cropped on my TV, but it's not on the original video I edited.
Lol , I will never forget that. Fun times brother.
Thank you for this excellent commentary on the life of Joseph. I especially appreciated the reference to the three tests and your explanation of the concept of forgiveness.
The conclusion was great but it could've worked with the truth instead of a little trip down the road to your local dairy.😎
Would you agree that Matthew 7:12 could be improved upon in light of Scripture like EPHESIANS 3:20, AND Revelation 3:10,22?
As well as John 14:12?
Great synopsis of the mission of the Church.
Nice! You don't see special effects used in a sermon video all that often.
It's the last fully digital service of the current lockdown, so I thought I'd add a little sizzle.
