It's really cool primo you are addressing these issues among the Black Diaspora. I was born in Brooklyn, Crown Hts, St. John's Hospital to Panamanian parents in late 60s, raised in 70s and early 80s. I use to hear a some crazy stuff from Black Americans growing up myself but thought nothing of it because I was pretty comfortable on who I am and culture I came from. Panamanian with some Jamaican lineage. I use to listen to a lot of reggae and Salsa as a kid in 1970s. Kids in my neigborhood use to call it coconut music, banana boat people's music, etc. Teasing my mom's having funny accent, etc. However, there were some loving Black Americans that embraced my family. I recognized we all had different styles, folkways, moreys, and just learned as I grew up learning about Malcolm X, Marcus Garvey, MLK, the Beautiful Soul Music in my sisters living room, think James Brown. Anyway, just an American Born Panamanian's experience in Crown, Hts Brooklyn. Keep up good work doing your research why these issues exist.
