I eas searching for a morning gratitude devotion and I came upon this. I am African American Roman Catholic woman ( withsome Mediterranean ancestry, curiously). I have always, even from a verify young age, admired the Near Eastern Judaic prayer heritage including Ethiopian. Rabbi Shelul's morning blessing is the very best I have ever heard. It is so reverently healing. Thank you. Shalom.

I know that Israel is and has been going through something lately with the hostage situation and the attack on the people. I am Jewish and I am going through horrible things here where people are living as domestic terrorists carrying out hate crimes threatening to rape, assault, and attack women, children, and people. They give the commands to do and then people go to carry it out and even boast and brag that they did it, and raped a child. I heard a child ask them “are you going to rape me.” I called the law and the authorities and these men and women doing these things threaten to rape and assault people and children if the law is called. It’s not just people who are not living here but people who are living here, too and doing in the places that they live with their wives and their children with their wives participating and yelling “Rape them!”, and teaching their children to live like this. No one has come to remove these people, evict them, arrest them, and remove the children or any captives from them. Sadly, unlike Israel, America is very gullible and naive of these people and allowing them to operate in this country and to commit these atrocities. Sometimes, they do not even act like they care, and even arrested me once because I kept calling the law trying to get help but what was I to do. I called to the news station, to the mayor’s office, to the prosecutor’s office, to the governor, to the White House, to the military, and to Homeland Security. Some of the FBI laughed at me, called my family saying that I was calling them and my family told to not even called the police or any of them again. I do not know if they are treating me that way because I am Jewish, a woman, and Black or if some of them or haters, too. Things in this country are not as they seem. They are evil people amongst us who hate us, and are carrying out horrendous and atrocious acts even to children while leaders and people look on. Know, spread the word around, and protect yourselves, your wives, your children, and others. I am so angry and I cry but what more can I do. I take it to God and I refuse to give up, to give in, and to loose my faith. No matter what, do not loose faith, too.

'For not making me a woman'??? But God did make women, and He looked on all His creation and said it is good.

I'd be curious how some of these prayers are modified (in physical execution if not in words) for the disabled, for those whose bodies don't work. (Or, say, an elderly Jewish woman who has Parkinson's and her hands shake too badly to wash her hands unaided.) I love that people act like "Gratitude journals" and whatever are totally new and the Jewish people have been doing it in their morning prayer for centuries.
