To me personally it almost seems like a totally different sport, the headspace is completely different. Instead of trusting your climbing abilities, you are trusting little pieces of aid and your skill in placing them and to me that is more terrifying, but to an aid climber trusting climbing ability as opposed to little pieces of aid is probably more terrifying. When I put a piece of protection in, I hope that it catches me if I fall but that ideally I will never have to put my weight on it. Compare that to an aid climber who places a little piece of gear and intentionally steps on it, scary to me... so my bias opinion is that it is less impressive than free climbing, however it is still very impressive and terrifying to me, and demands arguably more knowledge then free climbing.

As an aid/traditional climber, I am arrogant and will say what I do is much harder than free climbing. I still do my fair share of free climbing to stay in shape, but aid is what I love most. The fear that comes along with it. It’s a rush and it’s an art. I am not nearly as strong as a lot of sport climbers but I would safely say some of the ascents I’ve done are much more difficult as far as terrain and technicality goes. But like he said I think it’s a very different way of climbing and honestly I think the only thing that’s similar is that you’re going up with goals and undeniable aspirations.

Aid is a completly different sport, and it can get very very terryfing at times

For sure. Dudes started climbing later in their lives back then than pros do now and also did not train as regimented and hard. I second the humilty Part.. you dudes need to stop fanboying.

Il regista quando ha girato lo spot aveva oltre 70 anni. Va due volte all’anno a Kalymnos per arrampicare e mantenersi in forma e l’anno scorso a 74 anni è andato nel Deserto dei Gobi per preparare un documentario che girerà l’anno prossimo a causa del Covid .Più senior di così... tra 4 settimane saremo di nuovo a Kalymnos!

Everybody do the best on the cap walls but the equipment of the 80's was very diferent of to day. Of course mescalito, cosmos, excalibur and others routes kikoround on muy mind all the time.thank's everybody forma that gratis and mistery tours...
