CHEFS TABLE - P&O - our honest FOOD REVIEW

P & O cruises 'Chefs Table' provides you the opportunity to experience dining on celebration night, that comes from a 5 course menu created by Marco Pierre White. 53 days to we sail on Arvia thanks for the info, really informative .👍
Same here can’t wait
@markbrewin2728 well thanks for that feedback Mark. We were really impressed with the ship and the service from all those we encountered. It's truly one of the best layed out ships. It's design and many places to eat and drink are spread around in such a way that even at full capacity, it never felt overcrowded. Our ship tour video 📹 will be available in a few days, so come back and take a look at what you've got ahead to enjoy 😀
Great vlog for me for September on Arvia i love food vlogs ❤
@carmelshepherd6739 Thats really nice to know it was helpful, and thanks for your comment. We will be posting a new video this week on our experience of Green & Co on Arvia. And soon, another about The Olive Grove, as well as a ship tour, so please visit our channel again to get you excited and prepared for this amazing ship.
beautiful ship !
Just Beautiful 😍
I want to be on that ship cruising catching the sunsets❤
Great to see your video. Thanks!
@tatjanachavesvelosostockwe7174 oh that's very kind. Thank you.
Not for me. Hate the AI voice and your tedious opinions
We've never liked Marco Pierre White's menu designs aboard P&O's fleet over the years, so I'm not overly surprised by the verdict of this meal☹
@Paulad39uk we probably can't land all of the fault and shortcomings at Marcos door, because any of those dishes might have made an excellent meal on a plate prepared by him. The problem is that the menu contains very hyped, intense, overly complex description of elements that take more levels of work and expertise to create, than ships chefs and kitchens can manage, unless on the more luxury brands of cruise lines.
And the top tip is if coming by car, parking at the train station, just over the bridge is at least 50% cheaper than the airport parking. 🤔
great vlog - nice and informative. We stayed in an inside cabin on Deck 15 on the Iona - identical.
@@Love_llTravel many thanks for your kind comment. We do try to bring what we think will be the important stuff people need to know to make choices. Inside cabins are totally fine when there's so much to enjoy around and outside ships like Iona and Arvia
Will be going to Southampton soon, but getting a coach down
For me to get the coach down, I will take 11 1/2 hours
Thank you. Great tips🇨🇦
THANK YOU for your excellent video!! I will be on QM2 for a double Transatlantic crosssing in two days. Actually one day - 17th.
@merseywhogirl3430 oh how amazing. That's an experience we totally would seek one day #envy 😀. She is such a joyful set of amazing spaces to be in and relax in for those sea days. Bon voyage, and our best wishes for good seas to enjoy those outdoor spaces.
like your " plate up "
Thanks We very much believe that few cruise lines do breakfast as good and as diverse of choice as Royal Caribbean
Argh I'm so sick of AI voice narrations! And this is a good example of how bad it can be with sentence phrasing. I'm sure you're being too modest that you don't think we'd prefer your own voice over this! Having said that, thanks for the tour. I've been on a few Cunard ships but not yet this one.
Its not free, cruises are paid for you know
@Netflix999 You are of course 100% correct. HOWEVER When thinking about a title for a video that fits into a small space of a 'thumbnail' then a phrase like "a list of complimentary dining options" doesn't work as well 🤔 😀
We recently returned from a fantastic cruise from Southampton to Norway. Our only criticism was the Windjammer, which was so busy that staff had to repeatedly ask guests to vacate their table to enable others to eat. We found the food poor quality, over cooked, too salty and lukewarm. To add insult to injury sales staff walked around the buffet area inviting guests to buy pay for dining packages. I appreciate that the ship was full but why was the food so poor? 😥🍽️🛳️
@PortsladeBySea well that's a real shame that you had that experience. We didnt have that with this cruise, but have sometimes had similar experiences on other ships at peak times or full capacity. Glad to hear that you still managed to have a fantastic time. The beauty of Norway can certainly compensate for what's not so beautiful going on inside the ship.
Is the buffet active in the MDR at lunch and supper too?
Cant really answer that one for the MDR, but we did discover lunch served a la carte AND buffet in the Spey dining room.
I usually have a full English XXXL for the first 5 days, without fail, and then can't take the pace and move onto not so deep fried things!
That sounds very wise. Pack in the proteins and carbs early on. Then perhaps more fruit and fruit based desserts and cocktails as the days go on 😄
We've been on the Fred.O Bolette and Borealis. These ships are the same size, with slightly different and decours. Have also taken a look on the Balmoral and it really is the little sister of the three!
She is, but with so much character and charm. It was the perfect ship for a first cruise into the fjords we thought.
@@BritsAbroadTravelCruise Absolutely. I'd love to try a cruise on her one day.
Dian agustina still here on the tour destination??
There is so much to see in Athens. My wife and I were there many years ago but we did not see most of these places. All too beautiful.
Its such a tranquil and calm place and space to be in, and such a contrast from the heat and heaving crowds of the acropolis that we experienced the year before.
I love ports where you can just get out and walk around the City and see and maybe meet some locals. Great photography by the way.
Thank you so much for your kind comments. Its always appreciated.
Love this Naples Walking tour. I was born in Italy and I plan to take a Mediterranean cruise at some point. My home town is only a 2 hour drive from Naples. How long were you walking for?
We only had a few hours ashore during a cruise ship visit. We had been there before a year ago, but had travelled directly out of the city to Pompeii, but would certainly explore more if we had more time. These particular locations in the video came naturally as a walking 'path' to follow from the port and back.
Grim city. Like a floating care home.
Does the shop have sweets

Love this ship. Our first venture with Freddy O after kicking the sadly deeply diminished p&o to touch.
@breadyegg Oh that's fabulous to hear about Olsen. We've never seen or heard a bad comment about them, and our Balmoral voyage in Norway was as near perfect a cruise as there can be. Sadly yes about P&O, so we hear.
None of the food looks overly appealing… they obviously tasted better than they looked! Thanks for sharing this. It’s interesting to see what’s on offer
It depends of course what you look for in a meal. With Cunard, they know their core demographic are people who appreciate traditional northern European cuisine. Meat, vegetables, sauces.....as would have been served in the past era of ocean liners, and on land in long established hotels today. And actually, it was mostly well executed in terms of presentation and flavour. But for us, there were delights to be found in the buffet such as the sushi station. And, if you see our 'included food' video, then the Corinthia lounge do some amazing snacks, small plate tapas style stuff throughout the day.
@@BritsAbroadTravelCruise we’ll have a look at that! The menu options looked really good but it didn’t look quite so appealing on the plate. The fish starters definitely weren’t for us 😂
#Brits Abroad. Thank you so much for your kind reply. I have watched all your QM2 videos and have sailed on her quite a few times and have another coming up in the winter. I mainly do the 26 days plus to the carribean. QM2 is the only ship I will cross the Atlantic in, love cruising but have a fear of the sea. I remember once we were going through the Bermuda Triangle (outside on the terrace deck 8) and the captain came on with his noon update explaining about the myths of the bermuda triangle and 10/15 mins after he had finished his update the power went out and the ship stopped.....everyone in our little friendship group onboard looked at me, as they joked about me not liking the sea... I was absolutely terrified. QM2 restarted after about an hour. Your videos are so professional and the voiceovers are great.... and I don't care about the apostrophe lol. Take care and keep them coming Jennie x
That's a fabulous story about the Bermuda triangle Jennie, and we can absolutely identify with the feeling of safety and security you expressed about trusting QM2 with your unease of the sea, and doing the transatlantic. The ship and its crew are all so well equipped for these regular back and forth journeys, so it's little wonder how popular this service remains for those uneasy with open ocean voyages, and indeed, transatlantic flying. We so appreciate your enjoyment and feedback of our work. Especially from a well travelled Cunarder such as yourself. Our hope always is that we can give some insight to the ships that we discover, so that people can decide themselves if a specific ship is right for them. QM2 is in a class of her own of course. That much overused word 'iconic' is actually apt and not at all overused in this case, and its our hope that everyone who peeks inside and around through our videos, will make the effort to experience this historic vessel. Enjoy your next voyage Jennie, and thank you for your comments.
Thank you for another excellent video of QM2.
Oh thank you so kindly Jennie for that comment, and taking the time to say you enjoyed it. It really means a lot to us.
Menus, no apostrophe required.
I noticed that, too.
excellent, thank you!
And thank you for your kind words, and taking the time to comment.
Excellent video. Very well done. Thanks.
Hey, thanks for the praise and comment. It's really appreciated 👏
When was that crossing? Some of the decor is clearly pre November 2023.
This was September last year David. And yeah, pre the makeover which would have taken care of the worn, torn carpet that we had in our cabin and out in passageway 😏
Just found these videos! We are thinking of booking on the Balmoral. Can you have unlimited dishes in the main dining areas? For those of us with larger appetites
Good evening Lord Vader. We can report that in line with cruise lines everywhere else we have encountered, if you want to choose more than one item menu from each course, then there was no issue with that. Lunch and evening, more than 1 starter, main, or dessert etc each. At breakfast time too, we will often do our customary test of how well they prepare the Eggs Benedict before ordering anything else. And if there is smoked salmon on the menu, then that always finds its way onto the table before ore after any other breakfast item. Also, the Ballindalloch has that remarkable feature of being an MDR with a fully stocked buffet within the dining room at breakfast. And we later discovered similar in the Spey at lunch time! We doubt that you'll leave that ship hungry!
@@BritsAbroadTravelCruise thanks! Very helpful! We are in our 30’s would we feel a bit out of place?
@@Lordvader1212 That's kind of difficult to answer not knowing what you want or enjoy from your cruise experience. There's no doubt that Olsen's key demographic is the older cruiser who appreciates relaxed, chilled, sailing's, minus the water slides, noisy pool activities, and kids clubs. What they provide instead is a critically acclaimed top quality service from amazing crew, some really wonderful food, and ships that have great outdoor spaces (often missing from newer ships) to watch the world go by, and really enjoy the destinations they take you too. If those last things matter more than the first things, the floating theme park environment found on Royal Caribbean for example. then it wont matter that your fellow passengers are quite old, because you'll find a chilled, laid back wonderful travel experience, if that's what you want.
@@BritsAbroadTravelCruise thanks! We are looking for something chilled out!
She’s looking fabulous! Can’t wait to sail on her next year
And that was September last year before the makeover, so you should have an even better experience 😃
I remember when the nightly starter list was bigger and far more impressive. Although Ive never had anything I didn’t like.
We would have loved to have travelled in those times. Starters are sometimes the best items on a menu in many places. And we have been known to order 3 as a tapas kind of dining option 🤔 👍 Glad to hear you've had positive experiences of the food. That was our experience too.
Great video!!
Hey thanks for the kind comment. Appreciated.
Great to see cabins beforehand, thanks
WORST cruise we’ve ever been on!!!!!! 30 hours to have a robe delivered and a shower fixed. Food was horrid.
This open air market went on and on for blocks by the entrance to the old town, when we were there a few years ago.
That's right. And on the Saturday we visited, we walked a couple of streets away and came into an open square with a magnificent flower market, the town hall, and people enjoying drinks and food around the sides of the square. It really is a wonderful and overlooked Provence destination.....except by the French from the North who love to visit and vacation there.
Interesting information!
Thanks for the tour of a solo cabin.
You're welcome sir. Deliberately avoided ticking the box for an upgrade so that I could capture the experience of this particular accommodation, as there are so many balcony cabin tours of Anthem available to look at.
Cold food not enjoyable cruise
Thanks for showing the breakfast buffet on QM2. I’ve booked her for my (belated and scenic) birthday cruise off Cornwall in Jun ‘26. I almost always eat at the buffet only on any ship except a deck grill or afternoon tea is served elsewhere. I look forward to QM2. June
Hi and thanks for your comment. The buffet was incredible, and its entirely possible to eat there during your time on board and avoid the main dining room completely. BUT.....if you check out the Included food video we made, you'll see the self service food that's available in the Carinthia Lounge during the day, AND that you can also enjoy afternoon tea back in the Kings court if there aren't tables available in the Queens room.
Captured the spirit of Spain perfectly ❤
Oh thank you. Very kind of you to say. It very much is a city that you want to point a camera at and take pretty pictures of. Thanks again.
Hello, I am thinking of booking this ship, L have never been on cruise. The cruise in question from their website is failry full and l cannot find many midship places. Are the cabins at the fron and towards the AFT noisey, vibrations etc. I am sensitive to vibration and constant noise. Another question, if l may , is to ask if on such a big ship, are there places where the noise is lower, quiet spots etc ..... Which decks would you recommend and positions. I know am I asking a lot, but l have no idea lol
It's difficult to answer your question fully, but we can say that our experience of that room was that we had no noise or vibration from any location around us or below/above. There is a connecting door however and occasionally a cough or sneeze from those occupying that room. Your best option is to Google search written reviews of the ship. Very often they will contain comments on the location such as "Noise came from the bar lounge on the deck above". And as a rule, cabin locations with entertainment venues above/below can produce noise. And those below the pool decks when sun loungers are dragged out in the morning. We have rarely experienced vibration from the ships giant engines in any ship, but some decks can be effected by it. So again, read as many cabin reviews as you can (and videos, but often they don't feature that kind of detail). Aft and forward of ships are the places where you need to consider the potential pitch of the ship (up and down motion), but frankly, a ship of that size rarely encounters that problem in most sea conditions. Hope that any of that helps. If you have more questions on your first cruise then we will be happy to help if we can.
Must see. Forever in my mind.
Excellent presentation. I had never seen the Queen Mary 2. It is a beautiful ship with many features included in the standard cruise fare. Thank you for this great presentation.
Really appreciate your kind comment. Yes, the world's last transatlantic ocean liner is uniquely fabulous, and a great experience. AND not very expensive to travel on.
This is a video that should be watched carefully before visiting Mykonos.
