Hi, I'm making a video about the heron. Could I maybe use the close up shot from you? And do you have it as a whole without the cuts to the nature scene?

Well darn, I recorded a male ánd female a few years ago in The Netherlands while on vacation near the German border. They are quite loud when they are almost directly above you, somewhere in a tree. It was the reason I went out, as I could clearly hear the calling from inside the holidayhome I was in. I also have the male doing some 'whohohohohohohoho', a very 'wobbly' call (I guess you could say tremolo) but I have no idea if that actually means something ;)

Omg, i love these so much. First time in my life I am hearing them, I have yet to see one but I am hearing them every day now when at work, I work from 1am to around 8 and from 1 to 3am ish I am walking near woods and fields, delivering, I prefer to walk than drive this area, and for weeks Ive heard these calls but never knew what they were, I assumed an owl but never knew which, now I know. This is exactly the calls Im hearing, they sound awesome here but in real life the way the sound travels and echoes is just so cool. I hope soon I see one. To many it is not a big deal perhaps but to me, just hearing these is so new, I heard barn owls as well for the first time, completely different sound, at first I thought they were screeching baby birds but I have to say, this tawny owl calls are just the most beautiful thing ive heard so far

It might be common in europe but at 46, I heard and saw my first ever one the other day! The sound is amazing and travels through the night sky, I am so happy. To many it is not a big deal, it just was to me to see one in the wild like this

I am staying in a converted barn in France in the countryside and boy does this bird give a cute little call every night all through the night. I thought it was the wind or something, but it sounds a lot like a male tawny owl, so I'm thinking I found it. Thank you!

Ich hab jetzt immer noch Gänsehaut vor Glück, wenn ich das "Kuwitt" höre. Bin ein "Stadtkind" und immer schon Eulenfan, Eulen in der Wildnis sind immer noch eine Seltenheit für mich, auch wenn wir die hier auch in Parks etc. haben und ich weiß, wo sie zu finden sind. Hab das "Kuwitt" zum ersten Mal im fortgeschrittenen Erwachsenenalter auf einer Kärntner Schloßpension gehört, die wir öfters besuchen und die ein Waldkauzpaar beherbergen. Es war nachts im Regen vom Balkon aus, und es war so wunderschön und gruselig zugleich... 🥰

ich wohne neben einen wald und frage mich seit 6-8 jahren woher dieses geräusch kommt. immer am abend bis in die nacht und immer wenn es etwas kühler ist. endlich hab ich ihn gefunden. der ist wirklich sehr laut. 😁

Fun fact: Im staying at my summer house in the Egyptian North coast and since summer has ended it’s almost deserted just me and couple of neighbours (old people) scattered around…every night I hear a whistle sound and it doesn’t stop and I thought there’s an annoying kid that wouldn’t stop doing it and I keep wondering when is the mother going to lose her shit and snatch that thing away 🤣 Little do I know…one night the sound was so close and I was like ahaaaa gotcha you little menace so I open my door so fast before the alleged kid runs away and I find 2 owls staring at me and this is the first time in my entire life to see an owl and one of them was preying on a little birdie so the thee of us are standing very still and then we we realised what’s happening I slapped the door and saw them running in the opposite direction hahahahha To me they looked like two tiny human criminals and I happened to come the wrong time 😂😂 And now I know that there’s probably lots of owls around because the sounds are coming from everywhere and since there aren’t so many people around they hunt freely…Btw owls are considered a bad omen and mostly unlucky people are called owls in the middle east in general 😅😅😅 but I believe that every creature is beautiful in their own way even though they scare the hell out of me 😅😂

Oh my goodness, THANK YOU!! 🙏😁❤️ Mystery solved! I have been hearing this chilling call in the woods directly behind my house, randomly & about 5-8 nights a month. I love hearing them and knowing they're out there thriving.🦉 I couldn't figure out if it was a fox or bird species. This has helped my mentality knowing it's not a ghost! 😂🙏🙌

I live in Croydon of all places, they are here amazingly.
