Sport bike/ rocket accident. Was going about 40 mph. Down a rd always go down. Deer jumped in front of me out of nowhere. In area where usually no deer. Hit head on with the front of the bike. Impacted deer right in the middle. Killed instantly upon impact. Bent forks/front wheel and handle bar. Took out clutch and brake levers. Front smashed to bits. Side fairings gone. Upon impact let off the throttle and slowed down gradually, allowing me to slow down to a lower speed, I was carrying the deer with the front of my bike for a few seconds, however since the deer was stuck between the front of bike and wheel, it created more and more interference, eventually causing the bike to behave outside of my control, I did my best to go straight and slow down, but it did end up falling to one side at which I fell on my back, also bumping the back of my helmet on the concrete. I slid across the road. Using the inertia, the force, I was able to transition from a slide into pushing off and jumping up to my feet. Griding down my skin on my elbow and back. Hands and legs virtually unaffected-minor scratches. However back had some really bad road burn. No broken bones or internal bleeding. No concussion or sprains. No other damage. Blessed to have walked away from this. Thanks to God's mercy. This was a miracle the way it ended up! My advice: wear full gear & avoid night riding. Was wearing only boots and jeans and a helmet at the time. Which was helpful. But only a shirt on the torso. Usually wear more protection but this time didn't. Always happens when you don't expect it. Riding for more than 12 years. Never had an incident.

That there would be a 1995 Kawasaki ZX-7. I had one and put 35,000 miles on it in the North Georgia mountains and the Dragons Tail/ Deals Gap in North Carolina and Tennessee before sinking another $13k in it to convert it to a proper racebike. I pared off a solid 80 lbs and boosted horsepower from 105 bhp to 134 bhp with a complete Muzzy Superbike motor kit with titanium valves, big lumpy camshafts, adjustable cam sprockets and replaced the 27 lb stock exhaust with the 5.25 lb Muzzy full titanium race system. Factory tuned Keihin 41 mm flat slide carbs metered Nu-Tech special #4 118 octane race fuel and gave it a nasty bark! Had Lindemann Engineering revalve the front kayaba 43 mm inverted fork, slapped on an Ohlins remote reservoir adjustable rear shock and steering dampener, along with AP Lockheed 6 piston brake calipers, Dymag wheels. Wrapped it up in Sharkskinz and Beasley bodywork, gave it a custom lime green, white and black paint job and tore up the WERA National Challenge Superbike and Formula-1 series and CCS and NASBA Superbike and Unlimited classes. Those old 2nd gen ('93-'95) Kawi ZX-7 and ZX-7R's were heavy as stock but you could get them down to 480 lbs without much expense and down to 440 lbs all out. They have rock solid and rigid chassis and front forks. Once you add a good rear shock and revalve the front fork youve got one helluvuh racing chassis. Swap those heavy wheels for some lightweight Dymag or Marchesini's and youve dropped A LOT of weight, both sprung and un-sprung and now have a rock stable cruise missile that will rail high speed sweepers as if on rails and decimate quick left-right-left chicanes and sharp corners with anything out there. That ram air inducted Muzzy Kawasaki 4 cylinder pulled like a tractor from 6,000 rpm and the afterburners lit off at 10,500 rpm and wailed like a banshee all the way to 14,400 rpm redline, or 13,200 rpm as my rev limiter was set as i traded the extra 5 hp for better reliability and reduced maintenance between races. My Lean Mean Green Machine carried me to a handful of wins, a few podium finishes and a bunch of top 11 finishes. Seeing the old girl, or her sister as she once looked gave me the warm and fuzzies.
