Condor and RoadRunner in VPI Scout

We mailed a Condor/Roadrunner with motor kit to be installed in their VPI Scout. They were kind enough to give us this video of their update. Note, there is a clicking where the magnet got too close to the sensor. The customer has since fixed this gap issue. Other than that it looks and works great.
Packing a SOTA Turntable for shipping

The most important things to remember are: 1. Lock out suspension with foam between rubber feet sub chassis. 2. Lock out platter with two Allen retaining screws on either side of main platter bolt . Make sure to screw retaining screws all the way in so platter can not make contact with bearing and damage sapphire. 3. Foam inserts around platter will ensure no shifting in transit.

Take your time and make sure that nothing is loose. Many people ship with the counterweight loose and then it comes off and can damage the table. With UPS and Fedex handling it must be considered when shipping. Nothing can be loose after packing is complete.

Sota turntables do the following: On Classical they soar, on Hip-hop they rap hard in your face!, on Rock they rock out!, on R&B they are soulful, on Blues they get down, on Club&House they jam, on Reggae they will livel up yourself! and on Jazz, man can they SWING! America invented stereophonic hi-fi (High Fidelity) sound and produces the finest high end audio components in the world! I have owned many turntables over the years by big name foreign manufacturers. My present turntable, a pre-owned Sota Sapphire and the one before it was a Sota Comet. Another interesting fact, I have worked on and owned so many of these tables that I have seen the evolution of them from the first non vac Sapphires to the series V. Many of the tables while basically the same are constantly a bit different, much like individual custom builds, with many parts from any local hobby and hardware store. Another helpful video would be around identification of what you all call Series, and what are the compatibilities and incompatibilities of some of these components working together. This extends not only to the table motor and circuitry but also the PS box. I know I have swapped different PS with other tables they never came with, without issues, but there has to be a point where it's just not going to work right. The same with the Electric Flywheel stand alone box, I believe I also have a PS unit with a built in Electric Flywheel, just due to all the components within that specific unit. Some of the evolutionary electronic changes over 40 years is very confusing to me anyway.

Thanks Christian, just watched all the servicing videos you just did. I actually know all what your doing so far as I service my own tables and others that are local to me that I meet on audio sites. These videos are needed, I know because of all the people I have helped after they picked up a used table off of eBay and CL. I hope you will continue these into the area of the new modifications of installation of the Eclipse/Condor/Roadrunner components, as well as if there is also mods needing to be done with the PS/Vac boxes. These newer components are what I don't have any experience with yet, but plan on doing a table or two that I own. At this point I own 5 SOTA tables, Cosmos, Nova and 3 Star Sapphires, and have had many others over the years.

We originally had an outboard amplifier for the condor. We were able to go to class D amplifiers and then only needed minimal heat dissipation, and the outboard amplifier was done away with an internal aluminum block to deal with heat dissipation.

Nice video! I agree and was ecstatic to see Bill's invention live on with SOTA, I don't know where I'd be without mine. I have two "Classic" Eagle/Roadrunner units, one I got from the factory programmed to do 78RPM, the other I got in the wild which just does 33/45. I thought I heard you mention somewhere in the video that one can program the '78 feature in. The Eagle documentation is silent on this subject. I've been contemplating what I might try to get my second unit to do 78RPM.... Is exposing/hiding the 78RPM mode indeed a configuration option on the Condor? By the way, still that Jazz '78 you played sounded great - love those raw direct-to-laquer recordings. Play on!
