As a Brazilian, I remember that when Vinicius Junior transitioned from Flamengo's youth academy to the professional team, there were indeed some controversial opinions about him. However, anyone with eyes and a bit of understanding of football knew that Vinicius Jr was more than good enough by Real Madrid's standards. Anyone who reviews his highlights at Flamengo will notice how he was sometimes incomparably superior at just 16 years old (insane, but not quite the same as Neymar lol) compared to veteran or young players in the Brazilian Série A at that time.
