grooving and bending diamond plate aluminum with track saw 90 and 45 degree grooves
Просмотров 99 тыс.10 лет назад
if you want to bent aluminum bright tread diamond plate sheet metal, it is probably best to use a dedicated sheet brake tool which gives a strong corner, but has a slight radius. but if you dont' have a break you can groove the metal with a router, track saw, or simple angle grinder and get a very nice bend. However the strength is lowered. simply bending the piece back will tend to break it al...
Bending Aluminum Channel Scroll work with Harbor Freight compact bender
Просмотров 89 тыс.11 лет назад
I like scroll work, but a lot of it looks very skinny and weak. 3/16th thickness steel is the max thickness most scrolling machines accept. However aluminum is much easier to bend and I made this video to show you just how thick of a piece can be bent. 1/2" channel with .093" thick walls was easy to do. With a little more muscel and heat treating the metal to soften it, you can also easily bend...
what thickness is that plate
Could you use this method for a truck skid plate?
A scenario: If the run capacitor was defective it is possible the windings have an internal short if all windings read basically the same ohm reading. This will trip your circuit breaker after awhile.
Any luck I have the same issue but no arcing
Nice video! I know i'm like 8 years late, but how are things going?
What thickness size is that?
I was looking for tips to bend aluminium diamond plate, that will do it for my project. Thanks for sharing, regards.
oh yeah...its arcing...lets just not find out why....wtf! this is how homeowners die
What tool did you use to cut the groove?
Put a solid wire in the middle of the die so the inside of the bend is bent in. This will allow a better bend. Heat it with a propane torch will help also. I bend small & thin to large & heavy without a problem with the same bender. Good luck. Almost forgot...if you can find square solid rubber strips, insert in tubing...that reduces deformation.
yes, one can also melt a special low temp lead alloy in the tube and it makes the tube solid. afterwards melt it out by putting in boiling water.
What did you cut the groove with dummy
Ball cutters give awesome bends
Can you send that channel the other way? With the open end on the side of the bend?
no as the video shows it kinks up.
?
this video answered a question and gave me an idea at the same time.. thanks a lot for the upload!
Thank you so much for the video. It was informative. I've been noticing people mentioning Swag Off Road. They sell modified dies for the tube roller and I believe for this machine as well. Am wondering if you've checked into those dies yet?
Might would have been nice in a video titled "grooving and bending diamond plate with track saw..." to, uh, show it being grooved...?
Thanks so much for making this!!!
the tubing material broke because its hardened aluminum, 6061-T6; the sheet/flat bar metal is 5052, usually in the O temper
Benjamin is
no that is all 6063 alloy aluminum. 6061 t6 extrusions are not available typically in any thickness less than 1/8". sure you can probably get it special order for a lot of $$$$, but for almost all normal cases this is true.
half inch by half inch
what did you use to cut the v groove?
Steve Cassellius grinder
I have design a "Diamond Tread Plate" effect on many great products. Available on clothing, home decor, phone cases, stickers, and many more..... Available at: www.redbubble.com/people/surreal77/works/17100052-tread-plate
Thanks for sharing this....
What grooving device did you use. I've tried to find a V-shape saw blade and I can not find one.
+Juan W5ZX it doesn't have to have a v shape, just needs to make a groove so the metal is weaker and thus bends along the weak part.
Yeah! Videos like *this* are the whole reason I watch youtube.
This is very Helpful.. I was interested in bending some 1 1/4" square alum with some type of bender at about 30 degrees.. and I suppose it won't work based on your video. at what angle would the square tubing crack? 45 degrees? Great video.. thanks!
it depends on how smooth of a bend you want. If you put a 5" radius die in their from a dumbell set and annealed the metal I'm pretty sure you could get 30 degrees, but not anymore. It also depends on the thickness of the tube wall 1/8" will bend more than 1/16"
