Meet Lena Gur’eva, a uniquely niched and talented independent artist and illustrator of my book. We first met in July 2023 when Lena brought her stunning badges and postcards to our bookstore “Lavka Chizhika” for sale. I happened to be on my shift that day and was immediately stunned by her distinct collage style of painting which combined Lena’s paintings with random walls or other objects she encountered and photographed while walking. These works created separately ended up complementing my pieces in such a subtle manner, they fit perfectly! You’ll find them interweaved in poetry and fall’s memorandum, the third section of the book preceding the play. I don’t believe in fate but this special sequence of circumstances led me to publish an actual illustrated 330-pages book and find an incredible person along the way.
