Chill FPV mountain flight 🏔️ that almost ended in disaster💀
I tried to finish out the day with a chill long-distance flight in the mountains. Everything was going great until I went just a little beyond line-of-sight. Incidents like this are making me consider going analog. Luckily, fortune was with me and it landed in a grassy spot, rather than over the cliff side. This is what buzzers and GPS is made for!
Video was recorded using the DJI O3 air unit and stabilized using Gyroflow.

I had a great day out in the mountains. It was a bit windy and overcast, but overall the flight went well. These locations are nothing other than amazing and leave me in awe. In this video I post-processed with Gyroflow and, while not perfect, it certainly helped. I'm not an expert with video editing...yet. Driving back from a hike, I had my 7" fpv drone in the truck. Decided to pull over and dive a random couloir near a ski area. I got a 5Ah battery that did much better than my 3Ah, no low battery warnings right off the ground! Still no action camera. Unedited video from DJI O3.

I went up to a nearby mountain pass to give my newly built 7-inch FPV drone a try. The results didn't disappoint, but I learned a few things. One, I underestimated my power requirements. This footage is shot on the DJI Mavic 3 Classic. I went on a reasonably calm day but still encountered lots of gusty winds around 15-20 knots at around 12000 feet or 3657 meters MSL. Very beautiful wildlife preserve in the western high planes of Kansas. This area has geological formations similar to the hoodoos of Bryce Canyon, albeit on a much smaller scale. This trail is a great diversion from the I-70 stretch from Denver to Kansas City.
