I think Spencer wanting to pick Jade to go on the journey is two fold: One, if she gets an advantage it benefits him given they just made an alliance. Two, if Jade ends up hurting the team in some way the heat goes to her and she becomes the more visible target between them.

I could predict Spencer's arc from a mile away. Jade and Spencer's alliance will have the third wheel Diego in it. Spencer and Diego fall in love or something. Jade tells Spencer that he should focus on the game and not Diego if he wants to win. Spencer follows Jade's order, causing Spencer and Diego to have a falling out. Spencer learns that love is more important than money and leaves the alliance with Jade. The same episode he does that, will coincidentally have Spencer's elimination.
