Landing in San Diego (SAN)
Here's what it's like to land at San Diego International Airport (SAN). SAN is one of the busiest single runway airports in the world. If you ever visit, be sure to sit on the left side of the plane, either in front of, or behind the wings. It's one of the coolest airports to fly into in the entire world!
Music was stolen from Blink 182. "San Diego" BMG Records, 2016 blah blah blah. Used without permission.

    It's fascinating how small their trucks are. US Firetrucks have been on a growth spurt for years to the point where they are these immense behemoths each carrying 2 miles of hose, 1500 gallons of water and every gizmo, gadget and powertool you could ever imaging. I look at all that deck space under the boom on the Japanese Ladder Truck. On a US Truck that would all be filled in with cabinetry and gear boxes.

    • @mattywanders
      @mattywanders 4 года назад

      It's crazy how small their trucks are. I couldn't fit half the stuff on my engine on that truck. (1000/1250) Seems to work well for them though. Thanks for watching!

    • @andrewtaylor940
      @andrewtaylor940 4 года назад

      Matty Wanders yeah. They need the smaller trucks for the narrower back streets. Same problem in old European Cities. It would be a real pain trying to maneuver an American Tower Ladder down that narrow crowded market street.

    • @solarissv777
      @solarissv777 2 года назад

      @@andrewtaylor940 and yet, European firetrucks carry the same amount of equipment as both American engine and truck combined, and up to 8 FFs. And while they carry less hoses, they don't need as much, as they build supply lines on sight and use lots of splitters, while on American engines, there are lots useless duplicate lines going to an engine. Basically if you need two attack lines in the house, in the US they would have two full length lines going all the way, while in Europe, there will be a larger diameter hose going to the door, then into a splitter, and two smaller diameter lines going out of the splitter. Same goes, for tooling storage, European engines have lots of folding compartments, and literally use every cubic inch of their vehicles. Also European firetrucks are usually taller then American ones, and use vertical space more efficiently. And Japanese are just a mess: they seem to be just scaled down copies of American firetrucks with lots of wasted space and other inefficient solutions.

    • @andrewtaylor940
      @andrewtaylor940 2 года назад

      @@solarissv777 most of the weight and space on American trucks is because they carry a lot more water. And outside of a handful of dense cities they put in a lot more road and highway miles than their European Counterparts. It's just one of the subtler side effects of North America having vast tracts of land and a much lower population density.

      I think you will find most fire fighting outfits the world over go to great lengths to clean their apparatus. It's not just for prides sake. It prolongs the life of these trucks and allows the fire fighters to spot any small defects that may interfear with the trucks job on its next call. Clean vehicles are always ready and trust worth vehicles when the worst happens.

    • @ph11p3540
      @ph11p3540 4 года назад

      Cleaning fire engines to be spotless is a basic survival doctrine for fire departments the world over. These machines see very severe use and may break down at the worst time over the most minor defects that may have crept in from over use and wear. Every time they clean every last inch of the truck they are looking for lose fittings, preventing rust in the earliest stages, hydraulic leaks and frayed electrical lines. Cleaning is not just a pride thing, it reinforces total trust in ones own equipment. Fire trucks must be cleaned to remove corrosive ash build up that often occurs as they fight a fire. Cleaning is basic survival practicality.

      He’s means the fire chef of shinjuku dispatched all unit to the area. One of the engine you can see the word 新宿御菀 which means the engine belongs to the station nearby shinjuku palace.

      Thanks man! What did you think of that format? Just using raw footage is a bit different than what I'd normally do. Was it watchable? Would you like to see more in the future?
