    Your description with its emotion, honesty, and humbleness is very refreshing, sir. I am in the USA, but I will look up Haycross online. Thank you for an enjoyable video.

    Yes, thanks for reply. The equipment was at an audio store in California-- I volunteered there. Ironically, I'm struggling to make sense of Digital playback quality I cannot afford to buy new vinyl, so I am trying Tidal but it still comes across like the difference between video and film: video is thin, bright, and fatiquing. One oddity, however, is that recordings--just streaming MP3's from Octave Records (from PS Audio) sounds better than anything. Paul Mcgowen says it's his recordings in DSD. If you give them a listen, please let me know.

      @AlanKinsella-nu4gm I must give it a listen, thanks. If Paul says it's his DSD recordings, it must be very good. I watch his short informative videos a lot :)

    • @AlanKinsella-nu4gm
      @AlanKinsella-nu4gm 11 дней назад

      With the DSD he's able to record using little or no compression. He also uses minimalist miking and other best recording practices.

    Very interesting. Thank you! I had a pair of Ditton 130s, I think, in 1985. I also had Celestion SL-600's. They had the aluminum cabinet with no resonance, and sensitivity was 83 db. The SL-600 and SL-6's came alive best with tube gear like Audio Research SP-10 preamp and 75+ watt per channel tube amps. A system with Oracle Delphi table, with high-end cartridge, SP-10, Audio Research D-250, and SL-600's with Kimber cable wire playing Jazz at the Pawnshop album sounded like live music. I will check out your other videos on Ditton 22 refurbishment.

      @AlanKinsella-nu4gm Thank you for your comments. You've had some really high-end and serious audio equipment. Playing Jazz through that kind of system must be one great experience. The beautiful sound of analogue audio equipment is always pleasing to the ears. I do hope you like my other videos, too. Thank you once again.

    Sami, You have concisely captured 100 years of Celestion history in 20 mins. Also great to see you carry a pair of classic 60 year old Ditton 10s in mint condition , I believe they have been upgraded as well. I was also wondering whether the makers of famous McIntosh Hifi systems have their roots tied with the founders of Celestion (Eric McIntosh). Interesting piece of history , well captured !

    • @VinylsFinal
      @VinylsFinal 15 дней назад

      @SalmanGuest Thank you for your comment. Yes, the 10s capacitors were upgraded to poly film caps, which brings out more details from the drivers. That was Mcintosh USA, you were wondering. I'm glad you enjoyed this video 🫡

    • @VinylsFinal
      @VinylsFinal Месяц назад

      @andrewdean6963 Metal tape is a Type IV tape formulation. Similarly, Type I and Type II had their type of tape formulations. For some reason, Type III didn't even kick off. Even the newer cassette decks from the 90s didn't handle Type III tapes :)
