Introducing Skaftåsen Windfarm
Просмотров 504 месяца назад
In 2019, Foresight Energy Infrastructure Partners made their first investment into Skaftåsen Windfarm. Fast forward five years, and it’s now a 231MW fully operational project, featuring 35 of the world's largest wind turbines. These turbines will produce over 530,000 MW hours of renewable energy annually - enough to power 173,000 homes, or in this case, support green industry in the Härjedalen ...

    What are the main drivers of the recent price decline. China worries (lower timber price) and the UK PM backtracking on climate pledges (potentially lower voluntary costs prices?)

    There is no climate crisis. 10% decline in natural disasters since 2000. Accumulated cyclone energy shows no increasing trend. Global hurricane landfalls shows no trend. Downward global trend for total hurricaine numbers. NOAA: "We conclude that the historical Atlantic hurricane data at this stage do not provide compelling evidence for a substantial greenhouse warming-induced century-scale increase in: frequency of tropical storms, hurricanes, or major hurricanes, or in the proportion of hurricanes that become major hurricanes." NOAA data 1851-2021 shows no trend in number of hurricaine landfalls with the record high being 1886. The trend for over 7 decades has been downwards in the Pacific as well. Drought appears to be decreasing globally measured by SPI 1901-2017. Global trends show no increasing flooding frequency or severity. For every million people on earth, annual deaths from climate-related causes have declined 98%. Deserts have shrunk considerably since the 1980's. The Sahara shrank by 12,000km² per year 1984-2015. The Earth has greened by 15% or more in a human lifetime. The Great Barrier Reef's coral cover has reached the greatest extent ever recorded. On extinction the rate is very low: 900 known lost species for 2.1 million known species in 500 years, so from observations there are an average of slightly less than 2 species lost every year. Global temperatures maxed out in 2016 and have been lower ever since. There is no climate crisis.

    A good presentation. I am a supporter and investor to FSG I think it is important to discuss nuclear in the future of energy. Will nuclear supplement renewable or will renewable supplement nuclear?

    • @foresightgroupllp
      @foresightgroupllp Год назад

      This is an excellent question, thank you. The role that nuclear power may play in the future is a very important issue, and in recent months has been discussed even more given the context of the energy market. At Foresight we believe that the eventual reliable, low-carbon energy system that we build as a global society will be complex and consist of many complementary components. While nuclear power has battled the headwinds of cost increases over the last few years - at a time when renewables have continued to decrease dramatically in cost - its ability to provide continuous zero carbon generation alongside variable renewable energy is clearly a very useful characteristic. We would expect the share of power generation in the long run from wind and solar to be larger than nuclear - BNEF for example forecast nuclear power to be 7% of power generation by 2050 with wind and solar at 36% and 29% respectively by 2050 (source: BNEF New Energy Outlook 2022 Executive Summary, page 2). So in that respect it would appear more appropriate to say that nuclear power will supplement renewables! Source for BNEF data: bnef.turtl.co/story/neo-2022/page/2/2?teaser=yes

      @@foresightgroupllp exciting times to be involved with the renewables revolution. I agree that future energy will be provided by a multitude of sources. So there will be a lot of opportunities to come. Does FSG have any investments in hydrogen or the mega Xlinks project?
