Hmmm, I am not sure why you cannot pick it up unless you happen to be in a dead spot. Ever since many P25 systems went simulcast, the BCD436 has trouble picking them up in certain locations. The SDS100 supposedly works better with Simulcast P25 systems. But make sure you have all 4 control frequencies programmed correctly in the Site. You can also set it to scan ALL talkgroups in the entire System under the System Options setting. Here is the link for Montgomery Co www.radioreference.com/db/sid/11160

Which TRUNKED system are you trying to program?

What is the exact name of the Trunked System you are trying to program? I may be able to help you with more information. :)

If you are referring to the Saratoga County Trunked System, then it is NOT P25 1 frequency. You would program it as a regular P25 Trunked System. It has 2 Site locations (North and South). You only need to program in the Red control frequencies listed in Radio Ref. :)

No. You can only receive Sites closest to your location. For example, if you live in Essex County, you would only program/pick up the frequencies for the Essex County Site. If you let it scan ALL talkgroups, you will still only pick up channels/talkgroups assigned to the Essex County Site. Therefore, you still would not hear channels located in Cape May County i.e. if you are in Essex County.

I always steer clear of the Quick Save function because of that headache. I believe if you use Quick Save, it automatically forms a separate Fav List group for those frequencies. See link on how to remove them completely. forums.radioreference.com/threads/quick-save-question.276695/

Yes, I agree. It is almost as if Uniden intentionally created this scanner to be extremely cumbersome to program. I recently learned the hard way that it also doesn't save all your manual programming unless you exit out of everything til you get to scan mode before turning it off.

@@mrh.1107 Thank you for the reply and the warning! Oh just great... you mean I could have jumped through all those hoops to just lose all of that work if I didn't go back to scan mode? YIKES. And BTW: I thing you might not be updated to the latest firmware... What a hot mess it was to upgrade the firmware. I'm a 30+ year careered Firmware Engineer and I've never seen anything so complex to use... and I'm used to complexity in the systems that I build or the test gear, like a 4 channel Digital scopes, analyzers, and such, I've worked at HP, Stanford, Ubicom, Davis Instruments, etc. It's not like technology intimidates me... but if our assumptions are correct, that is to say they Intentionally made complex and error-prone then I wonder why? Either it's incompetence or malice? because It's almost like they went out of their way to make it that way. I usually just roll my eyes and go on when I see something minor and Oh well that was a bit quirky or awkward, but nothing ever like this! Sorry for the rant, but I'm still feeling frustrated over what should be a fairly straightforward piece of tech.

The radio comes with an internal SD card. I am guessing you bought a replacement SD card?
