@marydalton7266 That is weird. Maybe you’re adding more stitches to one side? When you make ch 1, it’s only a turning chain, so next row you make your first single crochet into the stitch not the chain. Hope it makes sense. It’s hard to explain if I can’t see it:)

Exactly:) This is the Alpine stitch and for the texture you have to work around your DC. SC row between is necessary for the texture as well:)
